Awhile ago a ran across this little gem at a thrift store. Loving all things vintage (and kitchy) I bought it without question. That afternoon I unloaded my finds and added this piece of work onto one of my bookshelves and promptly forgot about it. There it sat, for months, until one night I couldn't sleep and was perusing my book shelves for a good read. And what a good read it was. This book was written in 1969 and is now out of print but it's advice on the art of homemaking is classic. Many ... View the Post
The Beginning of Autumn
This afternoon I spent my time doing something that marks, for me, the beginning of autumn. I put up my first batch of tomatoes. This batch I blanched and then froze---a much easier process than canning. The process:#1. Put tomatoes in boiling water for about 2 minutes (or until they look ready---they look ready when their skin starts to pull and they float on the surface)#2. Stick tomatoes in a pot (or bowl) of ice and water. (30 seconds is long enough but do whatever you like)#3. Pop the stem ... View the Post
$5 Friday…Thrift Store Decor
The next big project at my house will be decorating my soon to be 6 year old's bedroom. He wants it to look like an "inventor room".At the local thrift store I found some inspiration---A Handy Andy Tool Kit (25 cents) and A How-To Book ($2.00). (Inspiration/ideas can come from all different places but I never fail to come away fed from 2 places---thrift stores and Disneyland. But, since it's $5 Friday I'll just stick to talking about my thrift store finds.)I'll use the wicked cool color scheme ... View the Post

I don't even have as good of excuse as Liz with her debit card getting stolen....I have just been trying to get life back to normal. And getting things back in order at home.....which has proven to be an ongoing task. But a big thank you from me too. We had fun, we were in the shade, not too stressed and we sure laughed a lot.....that's for me why I do this. I can sew, and make some fabric money back, and have fun doing it. So, thanks for coming. Here are a few pictures of the weekend... ... View the Post
Swiss Days 2010
It's late in coming but...Thank you so much for all the support at Swiss Days this year! As our booth was located across the street from the square, instead of in the square, we were anxious about sales. (Oh, how I hated the thought of driving home with bins and bins full of scripture bags and fabric cuffs.) Fortunately, however, we had a record year with more sales than ever! What a pleasant surprise! So thank you to everyone who found us. We really appreciate it.We really do.*PS---With my mind ... View the Post
Blog Silence
Sorry about the blog silence.......it wasn't intended...To make a long story short our debit card number was stolen and our account drained. Before we even knew what had happened our account was "frozen". Our Internet provider, after putting our automatic online payment through several times and having it not paid, turned off our service. No Internet, no blog, no posting. After some headaches, phone calls to bill collectors, and police reports we are now back on line and back to normal. Whew!...I ... View the Post
