$5 Friday

There is a $5 Friday after all…..

This is the other Liz.  And while Liz is running a marathon tomorrow (she is superwoman) I have been cleaning out closets, and took a big load to DI today.  And, of course, while I was at DI I just HAD to go in and take a look around. And this is what I found....for $4.00. 3 vintage patterns for 50 cents each. 2 vintage teacups for 1.00 dollar each 1 piece of vintage fabric for 50 cents.  (My favorite score.  And I love that it is tiny George Washingtons with tiny axes, cherries and cherry ... Speaking of Appearances…

Sorry, there will be no $5 Friday this week. I'm on my way to St. George to run a marathon. However, since this is a monumental occasion I thought I'd post a little something. What's monumental, you ask? Well, it's not the marathon. It's the fact that I shaved my legs before running. I never think about if my legs are shaved or not before a race but since I'm following the advice of Ms. Hoole I'm hoping to "look the part" so I can do the part. We'll see how it goes.I'll be back on Monday ... View the Post

The Art of Homemaking

Appearance

As the final week of "The Two A's" is closing in I decided it's time to post some of Ms. Hoole's advice on appearance. There's not a tidy list like there was for attitude so I'm just going to list a few snippets of her choicest words."Each morning get up and get completely dressed....Once you are dressed, everything works out better. The sooner you're dressed, the more successful is your day.""Getting dressed means putting on something that is comfortable, combing your hair, applying some ... View the Post

Halloween Pennant

The other day in a fit of disgust I took down my crazy drapes. And crazy they were...bright orange and blue. I was in total love when I bought them. They were fun for a time then they became annoying and then finally just embarrassing. I had to take them down. For several weeks the window has been barren and sad while waiting for us to afford new drapes.Well, we still can't afford new drapes but Liz came to the rescue. She stopped by the other day with some leftover fabric she cutout for ... View the Post

The Art of Homemaking

Attitude

Remember that I am currently working on "The 2 A's---Attitude and Appearance." So today I'll share a little of The Art of Homemaking's insights on attitude. (I'd suggest getting a beverage...this may take awhile.)In her book Ms. Hoole outlines 8 steps toward improving your attitude as a homemaker and they are:#1. Gain an appreciation for your calling as a homemaker.#2. Learn to visualize the over-all purpose of your work.#3. Be at your physical best at all times--both in appearance and ... View the Post

The Art of Homemaking

So I’ve Been Thinking…

..it's been a heck of a week here at homemaking central......and also I've been thinking that one week isn't long enough for me to get a grasp on let a lone master each facet of the ideal homemaking diamond...So I'm altering the experiment. I will spend two, yes two, weeks on each facet. That way I'll have time to try out all that excellent advice as well as post it. (Like this little gem: "...remember, as far as make-up is concerned, "Even a barn looks better if it's painted!'") And really, who ... View the Post
