Last week I went out shopping at a local thrift store and found some AWESOME deals. This is not one of them. But it was worn with a super cool $4 dress that I bought there.Awhile ago I went through a broach stage. A big one. Oh, I still love them but I needed to spice this one up a little to go with the dress so it was into the scrap bin I went.1 scrap piece of mustard silk sewn into a shabby flower and then sandwiched between my cardigan and broach is just what I needed to finish off my outfit.A ... Some ruffled leggings.
I think they turned out cute....I just need to make a mental note that if you want them longer that you have to cut them WAYYYYYY longer. I cut these about 3 inches longer than some current ones, but the knit tends to shrink up. Next time I will cut them 6-8 inches longer. I followed No Big Dill's tutorial except for the elastic part. I didn't have any wide elastic so I just pulled and zig zagged some 1/4 inch elastic into the top ruffle on the back of the fabric. Does that make sense?I ... View the Post
a little living room update….
We moved into our house six years ago this last Thanksgiving and about a week ago I realized that it was now time for a little update.....that was mostly my fault in the first place. You see, when we moved in I got so excited to decorate that I just started painting tan simply because that's what everyone else was doing too. (I know, I know...)So, when we ended up buying tan couches, tanish rugs and tanish curtains everything ended up way too tan and dark (is it weird that tan looked dark in ... View the Post
A Place for Everything…the Complete List
I realized that this chapter will be an ongoing pursuit. Even after this week is over I will continue throughout each room of my house to check off the "Place for Everything" list (I may be a lot of things...scattered, cranky, addicted to Dr.Pepper...but I always finish what I start, even if it takes a VERY LONG time.).So while next week I'll begin a new chapter of the book, I will continue my pursuit to put everything in it's place. That being said here's Ms. Hoole's check list as it appears in ... View the Post
From This to This
So as I was saying...I cleared out my 6 year old's room. We got rid of the toy chest and moved in a shelf with plastic containers. It's so much better. (These are all the toys we kept...everything you see is everything we've got....heavenly isn't it?)I also went a little over board and went through the closet and chest of drawers. Then I moved on to the walls. Everything (including curtains) have been removed. Then we let him choose a color of paint (football field green) and painted the walls. ... View the Post
Black Friday Toys
Today instead of fighting the crowds and snatching up deals I'm purging my house from unneeded items. That's right---while every mom in the country is out buying toys I'm here at home throwing ours away. Does that make me a grinch? I hope not because today and tomorrow I am determined to work through the 3rd, 4th, and 8th points in Ms. Hoole's list of "A Place for Everything" which are:"Third: KEEP NEAT CLOSETS AND DRAWERS...I hope that you realize that the neater you are the more space you ...
