My kids are in bed and asleep, my husband is out in the garage finishing up a few Christmas gifts, and I have a pile of tape and wrapping paper with my name on it in front of the TV. Tonight will be bliss---all is right in the world. My current homemaking challenge is to "meet the minute". Which I have this week. My husband usually works 6 days a week and I usually run a preschool and art classes however....this week everything has been canceled. We have all been home together. It has been ... View the Post
$5 Friday…A $1.50 gift from the grandkids!
So, I'm an idiot and forgot to take a picture of one of these calendars when it was completed but here are some works in progress. We made these in my preschool class this morning. They are Christmas gifts for parents (but I'm going to have my kids make them for their grandparents). They are made from a half sheet of poster board, a Dollar store 2011 planner hot glued to the bottom corner and a bit of art work hot glued to the other corner. Then for my preschool kids I attached a quote and some ... View the Post
I ended up resorting to a hot glue gun….
but I finished the collar on Hannah's dress. Next time, can someone please remind me about how long it would actually take to handsew on over 100 little bunchy-flower-thingies? A long.....long time. So, thus the hot glue gun. (And you can't even tell.)I actually made the collar detachable from the dress because it dawned on me that if I wash it....I will have a frayed mess of a collar. So I cut another piece of interfacing...sewed, sewed, and sewed some more and then broke out the hot glue ... View the Post

$5 Friday…a thrift store edition
I had to run into DI the other night to get a trophy for my husband's work. He got the exciting job of staying with three kids in the car, that lucky duck. And because I was passing the aisle, I just had to check the pattern section....I just had to. (As he immediately says, "what in the world took you so long?" when I get back in the car.) Umm. Patterns? And this is what I found. 4 1960's children's patterns. (My older 2 kids are obsessed with the Brady Bunch right now which we watch during ... View the Post
If You Need a Good Laugh
I've just been laughing so hard I woke up my kids. I am tired but instead of going to bed like a normal person I'm out googling random stuff which tonight, led me to this little gem: http://www.craftfail.com/ I can't stop laughing. And I can't decide which failed crafting attempt is my favorite...the 3-D fabric star for Charlie Brown's Christmas tree, the woman who tole painted and bedazzled her tennis shoes, the sad case of the cupcake liner garland or the "hairless Chewbacca pancake". Some ... View the Post
