If you've never cut a pattern out before...this is for you! I chose a simple apron top pattern from Tuesday's pattern post. It is simple and only has two parts so it won't be super complicated....but you can get some idea on how to cut out a pattern if you haven't ever done it. And I am loving the apron top, I think it turned out very cute. I think I will be making a few more for Spring and Summer. Especially because they are truly a "nap time" project. Which is exactly what I need at the ... View the Post
So I Like Jumpers…
OK, so here's another jumper I made for Gracie. What can I say? I just like jumpers.(I've made more than one in the past and I'll bet I make more than one more in the future.)But, I'd like to point out that this jumper is in fact different from the others...this one is void of any stripes, flowers, eyelet, or bows and is sewn from some made-for-a-man's-suit tweed fabric that I picked up on sale instead of my usual cotton fare.So I am branching out...sort of... ... A Word about Patterns and a preview.
I like paper patterns. I know that lots of people make their own, but to tell the truth, I have not had much luck with tracing existing clothing.....I find that along the way I am making weird and crazy adjustments that I could have avoided in the first place. So, I use mostly paper patterns....and for the most part...I hardly make any adjustments. They are tested and usually very well-done and I just love them. Don't get me wrong, I still pull a bodice from here and a skirt from here and a ... View the Post
Partially Completed Projects
Right now my sewing table is stacked with partially completed projects...I can think of at least 6 that are almost complete just in the first layer of my sewing salad. Before I begin any new projects I need to finish or dispose of this pile. That is my job for the week. Which will include finishing this dress---all that is left is the pinafore. (Plus a pair of knee highs, and some serious time spent with the hair brush...poor girl...)Wish me luck. ... View the Post
$5 Friday…Project #2 with white Kona cotton.
So, another great thing about Kona cotton is that it dyes well....so I've heard.....and so I wanted to try it. Again, I wish I were getting paid in fabric....but no, it's just a personal opinion. Project #2 is a lace skirt tutorial. Two skirts actually. I found some awesome vintage lace at the thrift store for $2.99 that I wanted to make into a lace skirt that was inspired by this even more awesome dress (she is what I hope to be someday). Again, I just made a simple skirt, layered the ... View the Post
Levi Extensions
Like Elizabeth, I am having "too short" issues with my daughter's clothes. However, our problem is with pants. Her Levi's to be exact. Gracie has gotten too tall for her Levi's but with spring almost here I refuse to go out and buy a bunch of new pants. I just can't afford it. But I also don't want her running around like a hillbilly. (No offense to any hillbillies that may be reading this post.) So here's my solution---5 minutes with my sewing machine and some white eyelet scraps...It ... View the Post
