When I was small (and I mean as a child not before I was 8 months along) I used to wear terry cloth sun suits. And because I'm always having my kids try out things I loved as a child I made Grace some of the same sun suits. Grace has gotten quite a bit of use out of this one. She calls it her "sun-swim-suit". Unfortunately, the day it dawned on me to take pictures of her in it she was a giant grump. We had stopped by my parents after a long day of chores and errand running. And the only thing ... Are you all ready? Hopefully you have everything.....because today we are going to cut out our pattern pieces and then cut out our jumper pieces as well. The Art of Homemaking–The New Settlement Cook Book
{Sorry to those who are looking forward to Liz's post on Homemaking today....you just have me. She is on a hiatus from The Art of Homemaking while she is trying to keep herself from going into labor too early. Hopefully, I can be half as good as she is for the next month or so...}On one of my last thrifting trips in IL I picked up this cookbook, The New Settlement Cookbook, for 50 cents. It was from 1954 and when I opened it I was intrigued and even chuckled at the tagline on the first ... View the Post
$5 Friday…Maternity Skirts from Dollar Store T-Shirts

Thrifted Thursday– Happy as a Lark….
I think that these beauties may be one of my most favorite thrift store finds--EVER. And Liz found what we thought were these amazing patterns for these 1960's embroidery kits.....and we were excited. And then we turned them over. And realized....that THEY. WERE. DONE.The stitching is impeccable and all four are even basted and ... View the Post
The Book of Ruth
I'm the kind of girl who wants to know a story from the end to the beginning. Anyone who knows me knows that I read the last page of every book before the first page. Every time. I like to know what I'm getting into. I like to be able to brace myself for any sudden blows---and know that when they come everything will be alright in the end. Like I said:I'm that kind of a girl. Mix that with my insane need to control everything and that makes pregnancy for me a scary experience. Will I ever even ... View the Post
