Oh Tortilla Chips. How do I love thee? Let me count the ways... I love tortilla chips and today just happens to be National Tortialla Chip day. (No, I'm not making this day up....like the time I told everyone it was MC Hammer Appreciation Day or the time I claimed it was National Peg Your Pants Day or when I said it was Poke Someone in the Eye Day or...well...it's none of those times...this one is ligit...in fact it's too ligit to quit hey! hey!...ok, I'll stop.) Life Lessons From the Sewing Machine
This dress was one of my Christmas presents this year....and it truly was one of my favorite gifts. It was a dress my mom wore in the late 50's as a junior bridesmaid. And since I am the sewer in the family (lucky me) she gave it to me. Sorry, if it looks a bit big on the dress form, it is. The dress is about a girls size 12 or so and it's pinned on a dress form that is a girls' size 6.My mom got this dress (and she even remembers that it cost around $40---a ton of money) as part of a bridal ... Peter Pan Collar Tutorial
I have been dreaming about this project for a while and then, when I saw THIS I knew it was time to do something about it and make some removable peter pan collars for all sorts of outfits. First things first, I LOVE peter pan collars. Like some serious love. I think I have put them on about half of the girl's dresses I have ever made, and the other half---well, I certainly debated it. So, now we have some removable collars that can go on those dresses too! Wahoo! (Am I crazy? Ok, you ... View the Post
Bereavement Gowns
This week I was given the opportunity to make bereavement gowns for our local IHC's Angel Watch Bereavement Program. It was part of a project my church group decided to participate in and I was lucky enough to be involved. If I understand it correctly these gowns will be used to clothe babies who are born prematurely and pass away either prior to delivery or shortly there after. These babies are cleaned, dressed in these gowns and then returned to their mothers to say goodbye. How my heart ... View the Post
The Art of Homemaking: Week 2
This week I was still working on Ms. Hoole's first "A"---attitude. And since Ms. Hoole says, "Attitude begins with gratitude." being grateful was the order of the week. This week was busy. We had so many different things going on. One night this week my husband was gone working late. It had been a particularly long and stressful day. I was holding a fussy baby Ruth while returning some phone calls and trying to finish up some housework before getting the kids in bed. I was exhausted and ... View the Post
