This is one of the project that I finished this summer...that luckily has been worn a ton! It was a quick, easy sew and I love the color of the kiwi green linen with the vintage fabric on the pockets.I didn't take any pictures as I was making it (to tell the truth I was totally winging it), but I basically used a raglan-sleeve dress pattern (self-drafted) with a gathered neck and arms and bias tape to hold the gathers in place.I am working on a similar dress for fall with three-quarter sleeves, ... The Art of Homemaking: If you are on the verge of hysterics….
I am having another one of those are-you-kidding-am-I-living-in-an-I-Love-Lucy-episode weekends.(Which actually happens more often than I'd like to admit.)I would explain whats been going on --like the lights, appliances, and electronic devices that have mysteriously been turning themselves on and off all morning (and freaking me out) or the almost 300 hair bows and 40 skirts I have strewn about the floor (more about that later) or the lady at Wal-Mart who lost her mind in the line behind me ... Capri Sun and a Sweepstakes
This summer is flying by. And it makes me sad.If it were up to me summer would last twice as long. I love the long days, high temperatures, and having all my kids at home.I love the sidewalk chalk, the evening walks, and the running through sprinklers. And this summer my husband and I have been spending time with our kids doing things we did during the summers we spent growing up...things like playing 4 Square, HORSE, and roasting marshmallows. It's been really fun.So the other day when my ... View the Post
Thrifted Thursday. A Movie Projector.
I found this little treasure at a yard sale a couple of weeks ago. It was sitting in an old, ratted cardboard box and I think I was lucky because not many people would have known what was inside because the box was so bad.(Good thing I am a scavenger....)And then when I asked the lady how much she wanted for it, she replied, two bucks.Sold, and sold. The cord was wrapped around the base of the machine and is basically falling apart now, but I still think it will look good on my bookshelf, even ... Fun in the Sun for Kiki and Company
Last month Kiki and Company invited us over to play in her Fun in the Sun Series. This was the project that I shared. It was fun for summer but I think we'll keep these little people going with our reading throughout the school year! ***When Kiki told us about her Fun in the Sun series I knew exactly what I was going to do. (In fact, it is something that I've been planning since I made these random craft stick puppets.) I only wish it was later in the summer so I'd have more to share with ... View the Post
Skirting the Issue: Final Tally
(One of the skirts I made for Skirting the Issue, made from this vintage pattern.) Liz and I just wanted to thank you a million times over for your participation in "Skirting the Issue." The final tally is in and together we were able to make and donate 401 skirts. Can you believe that over 400 girls will have a brand new skirt to wear? What an amazing feat? It really is. Thank you again.....we truly owe it all to you. We are getting ready to give out the prizes, starting tomorrow at ... View the Post
