"Do you have too many dishes or toys, too much furniture? Do you have unnecessary clothes to wash, iron, and mend? You might have magazines and knicknacks collecting dust. Look over each room critically, and discard or transfer to another more appropriate spot anything that doesn't belong."---Laura Snyder (A Woman's Fulfillment: A Guide to Creative Homemaking, 1970) Do I have too many toys, knicknacks, and magazines?Yes.Yes I do. $5 Friday: Fancy Little Lady Skirts with DIY Iron On Patches
So as I mentioned a little while ago I've been into making my own iron on patches. I don't have any of those nifty machines that you just send an image over to and it cuts out some stuff. (In all honesty I don't even know how they work and haven't ever seen one.) I've just been making them the old fashioned way...draw a picture, trace it onto fabric, iron Heat-and-Bond onto the fabric, peel, stick, iron onto the desired location, and sew around the edges. Done. And I love them so much ... View the Post

My husband reminds me that when I used to teach school this was my favorite time of year...all the students coming back, redecorating a classroom, a ... View the Post
A Halloween Wreath.
I think I have decided that some people are scary-Halloween people---and some aren't. We are in the aren'ts category. I took our youngest who is 2 into a display store last week to get some grid-wall pegs and he started freaking out over all the life-sized witches and crows and bubbling cauldrons that were EVERYWHERE. I ended up carrying him on my shoulder with his head buried in my neck and every time he would peek out he would say...."Let's get out of here." I have to admit...they were ... View the Post
The Sonjia Scarf Tutorial
So late Thursday night I was watching Project Runway (I always watch it during it's second broadcast at 11:00pm when everyone is asleep and I can enjoy it...while eating nachos...and stretched out on the couch. Crazy? Maybe, but I've never claimed not to be.) Anyways, so I'm sitting there watching it and Sonjia (who I love) is wearing this totally awesome grey, knit scarf. Unfortunately, I couldn't find a picture of Sonjia wearing the scarf but you can see it in this clip from the last ... View the Post
