Simon just left to go play over at his best buddy's house. Being 8 now he thinks he's old and big and tough...too tough for his mom to drive him over to his friends, even in the wind and the snow. But I watched him out the front window...because even though he's 8, he's only 8 and I'm a worrier. And what I worry most about is my kids. Lately I've been worrying that I'm not teaching Simon how to be responsible enough. I am reminding him constantly to do things, brush your teeth, flush the ... View the Post
The Party Dress Remix.
One thing that Liz and I were sad about last fall is that we didn't get the opportunity to sew-along with Project Run and Play. We were both knee-deep in our Fall Look Books and it just didn't happen. But we are going to sew along this season!!! We have missed the challenge of sewing with a theme. I am up this week with a simple remix of The Cottage Home's Party Dress along with everyone else. You need to see all the entries both in the sew-along and the 8 designer's that have been posted ... Gracie’s Must Have WINTER Maxi Dress
You ever have one of those mornings where everything just goes wrong? Well, that was my morning yesterday...all the socks were still in the dryer...damp, Simon left his backpack home, Ruth leaked through 2 outfits before 9am, I ripped my pajama pants, Grace spilled a half gallon of milk all over the kitchen floor, and on and on until 10am when we went to take these photos of Grace in her new maxi dress. That's when I tipped over in the snow while trying to take her picture and the battery ... View the Post
How do you find time to sew?
"How do you find the time to sew?"It's a question that Liz and I get asked in our inbox a lot. And sometimes (ok, most of the time) I don't have a great answer for people. But over the last couple of weeks, I have been thinking about this question again (a kind readers asked for some help recently).....and I realized maybe we do have a few answers or tricks or secrets or just maybe something that may spark a helpful idea. So, over the next little while, Liz and I are going to be sharing some ... A Jane Austen Quilt
I'm not a quilter. Not that there's anything wrong with that. I'm just letting you know that there's not going to be a tutorial, how-to, or even a look-at-this-real-close item in this post. I'm also not a Jane Austen fan. Not that there's anything wrong with her. I just don't enjoy reading her work. At all. Ever. Or watching any of the millions of movies made from her books...unless Kenneth Branagh is in them...and then well, it's Kenneth Branagh who could be in a documentary talking ... View the Post
Because I am up to my eyeballs in projects….let’s just add one more to the list.
One of Hannah's Christmas gifts this year was to re-do her room. She's been begging us since we switched the boys' rooms back in the summer, and she was thrilled Christmas morning to finally get her wish. Her bedroom has been the same since she was two and got her twin bed, so I really can't complain. It was time for a bit of updating. (Although it makes me sad that my little girl doesn't want a little girl room anymore---she is growing up way too fast for this momma.)She's been talking ... View the Post
