My niece was blessed this last weekend, and unfortunately I couldn't be there. We had two other trips planned for February and we just couldn't swing another one in there, so I called my sister (my twin) and asked if I could make baby Sarah Jane's blessing dress. I was hoping it will help me feel like I was there in spirit.... So, at the beginning of last week I set out the make the dress. I was actually afraid to start the dress too early because I was worried it would be too small by the ... View the Post
Facebook: Strange Things Are Afoot….
Very strange things.... I suppose they have been going on for a little while now...and we knew about it...Elizabeth is the one that actually started it. But we haven't done anything about it. Not really anyways...until today. You see, Elizabeth and I are far from being multi-media, techno-promotion girls. We like to sew and maybe craft and then sew some more. And I feel pretty good about figuring out the blog thing so that I can talk about sewing and crafting and sewing some more. But our ... View the Post
A Valentine Skirt.
Last week I made Hannie a skirt for Valentine's Day. I should have been working on a costume for a 5th grade wax museum project, but I just wanted to sew something fun. I started with The Vintagely Modern Skirt as the base. The only alteration I made to the original skirt was to make the waistband larger and added extra-heavy fusible interfacing to make it stand up well. (I cut the waistband piece 6.5 inches so the finished waistband is 3 inches tall.) I then added the heart pocket. I ... View the Post
Valentine’s Day Quiver with Arrows to Deliver Tutorial
Right now Grace is obsessed with the movie BRAVE. And she is dying for her own bow and arrow set. So the other day while Ruth napped and we had the house to ourselves we made up some super easy arrows for her to give out on Valentine's Day and a quiver for her to carry them in. Sure, it's not an official BRAVE set but for now she's pretty excited and I think they will be fun for her to hand out on Valentine's Day. So I thought I'd share with you how we made them in case your little girl ... View the Post
Thrifted Thursday: A Sweatshirt Refashion
I have a huge refashion pile that is waiting for me, and this lucky sweatshirt was sitting on top when I decided that I need to start tackling the pile. So, I started with it. The sweatshirt was originally a Boy's Large but I wanted to make it something for Hannie, so I chopped some of the width out of it, made the sleeves puffed sleeves and added a cute Peter Pan collar to it. One thing you have to know is that this sweatshirt is so much cuter in real life.....sorry, the picture was taken on ... View the Post
Almost MC Hammer Pants…A How To
I made Grace these pants back somewhere around Thanksgiving time...but never posted them. (Strange as it may seem I don't always blog about everything that I make...like the kooky shirts I made for the boys in my preschool class or the GALLON of salsa that I made the other night. Nope, your never going to see any photos of those things, they're just embarrassing. But a pair of almost MC Hammer pants...you better believe it.) Anyway, I meant to post about these pants because I like them. And ... View the Post
