Today we are over at We All Sew sharing our Vintage Sundress Pattern that I have been working on behind the scenes for awhile now, and I am very excited to be sharing it with all of you today. I feel like this dress is kind of a momentous occasion around here (even though it's really not--I am totally being dramatic) but is the first time that I patterned-drafted completely from scratch for more than one size. I think I tested it about 8 or 10 times and although I am still nervous ... View the Post
Aprons for Mom & Me & Little Sister: And a Toddler Apron Pattern and Tutorial
Hello. This week I was busy making my girls and I some aprons. I liked the idea of making us something that all matched (Gracie is really into all of us matching) but not having them all look exactly the same. This is what I came up with: Today I'm sharing the tutorial for Gracie's ruffled apron over at Riley Blake Designs and here I am sharing the pattern and tutorial for Ruth's toddler style apron. As for mine...I can't post a tutorial yet. After I finished up I realized it would be ... View the Post
The Art of Homemaking: Focus on the Significant
I ran across this quote the other day.I think it was meant for me. It's what I'm working on.(What our whole family is working on actually.) There are so many distractions...and obligations...and commitments...and things to do that sometimes it's easy to confuse what is going on with what is significant. And I don't want to miss what matters most.Especially with those who are the most significant. Here's to hoping that I can find some wisdom and clarity....Have a happy Tuesday everyone.-liZ ... A Summer Dress
How is summer break going for you? The first week at our house was filled with sickies but I have two fingers crossed that we are out of the worst of it and on to summer break! (And guess who was the lucky member of the family to get it twice.....um...yeah....me.) I actually made this dress a couple of weeks ago but am finally now posting about it. It is a simple vintage-esque dress with a full gathered skirt and cap sleeves. I pulled the pattern of a body draft I had done a month or ... View the Post
A Cross-Stitched Collar Tutorial
If you know us you know that we are always making up some sort of pattern for our girls and that we have a definite signature style---vintage with a touch of modern. So to gear up for Fabric Fest I made one of our very favorite dresses. This style of dress is actually the first dress I ever drafted from scratch...using only Gracie's measurements...and yes, yes, I have made a million of them. But never out of this fabric! This is a piece from Riley Blake's Hipster Line and I've been ... View the Post
A Cross-stitched Shirt
I really meant for this shirt to be in the Spring Look Book, but alas it didn't get there. But maybe I should just be glad it got finished (and not in the projects of doom pile) and hopefully it will look just as cute with shorts, which reminds me....I have got to make this girl some shorts. Both liZ and I are pretty much in LOVE with anything cross-stitched right now (you may or may not see another similar project tomorrow) but the top was a fun sew. And I like fun sews lately.... I made ... View the Post
