Ruth has had 2 scheduled trips to the hospital this year. Both times I was a nervous wreck. Both times her procedures were simple but I still cried both times when they took her away from me. And both times Ruth struggled with coming to from the anesthesia. It was rough...like night terror screaming for extended periods of time in the recovery room with 3 nurses helping us to hold her and keep her safe and breathing rough. The last time we were at the hospital they were prepared for us ... View the Post
Skirting the Issue: A Blanket Tutorial
Years ago, I sat in a hospital room with Hannie who was 18 months old at the time. She had gotten a horrible stomach virus and wasn't keeping anything down for days. I remember when I took her into the doctor they sent us straight to the hospital. It was a scary 24 hours....and I vividly remember she didn't even flinch when they stuck the IV needle in her. That was the moment I knew she was pretty sick. After a couple of hours on IV's she began to stabilize and I could see the coloring ... View the Post

Skirting the Issue Week 2: A Pillowcase Tutorial and A Story That I’ve Never Told
Almost 2 years ago I gave birth to my 3rd baby, baby Ruth. Because of complications with my previous deliveries we had a pretty solid birth plan in place. However, things didn't go as planned...something went terribly wrong. The details are long and frustrating. But the core of the story is this. I ended up dying for a few minutes. And while I find that terrifying my husband likes to argue that it was far scarier for him than it was for me...but that is an argument for another time. Because ... View the Post

So below is a list of our projects and ideas for charities that are in need of the items. This year we really wanted everyone to be able to sew something that was meaningful to them and be able to donate it to a charity that they had a tender place in their heart for.(My tender place, as you all know, is for making skirts ...
