What bugs me most about my husband also happens to be the exact thing I love most about him: he's just a big kid. It's a complicated thing...but it's what leads me to come home and find a giant slide installed in the basement or the bottom half of the kitchen counter tops turned into 6 feet of magnet boards or the kids riding down the steps on a mattress or...well...you get the picture. But sometimes, sometimes he has ideas that are brilliant (although I'll never admit it) and two nights ago he ... View the Post
The Rain in Spain…… {My Fair Lady Costume}
I had well-intended plans of doing a bigger photo shoot for this costume. I knew exactly where I wanted to go (I found an awesome older golf course nearby that had the perfect rolling hills) but good intentions were a bust when this girlie caught a bad cold over the weekend and didn't feel good at all. So, for most of the weekend she was watching old movies and coughing. Poor thing. But she still wanted to do some pictures....so, we went to our usual picture-stomping-ground and snapped 4 ... It’s Wednesday on a Monday…A Wednesday Addams Halloween Costume that is.
A few months ago I became obsessed with the idea that Grace would make a perfect Wednesday Addams for Halloween. But...I always let my kids choose what they want to be for Halloween (Remember the shrieking eel, plate of spaghetti, and elevator costumes?) so I decided that I would make the costume for my own entertainment and then just let her still be whatever she wanted. And so I started googling images of Wednesday Addams. Surprisingly I found that her dress changed over the years ... View the Post

A costume and a log cabin….
I know on Wednesday I promised you a costume....and while the costume is done. Um, the photo shoot is not. ARghhh. Sorry! Hopefully we will get some time this weekend to shoot it and I will show you on Tuesday. In other related sewing news, I have been wanting to try out a quilt-as-you-go method for a while now. I bookmarked (yes, I still bookmark...I really do belong in the dinosaur age) THIS tutorial over the summer....and have been wanting to try it out. So, I finally pulled ... View the Post
A Goldilocks Costume for Ruth…Too Hot? Too Cold? Or Just Right?
Once upon a time I had a baby.Her name was Ruth and she had wild and wonderful untamed golden locks. So I decided that she must be Goldilocks for Halloween and I set off to make her a costume.But I wasn't sure what Goldilocks should look like...And this was the best costume I could come up with: And although I loved her in the dress and pinafore I made(and how could I not...just look at those knees poking out between her dress and socks...)I wasn't sure if she looked like Goldilocks from ...
