Welcome to Sewing Saturday! Around here Elizabeth and I have been sewing up a storm behind the scenes....working on some new projects, tutorials, and a few surprises...but today it's all about you and we want to see what you've been sewing up! So let's get to the linky party! And today, for the first time, we have our official "fine print" linky party rules. Are you ready? Here they are: #1. Please link to a specific blog post and not just your home page. #2. Please only link items that are ... View the Post
Quilt-as-you-go Tote Bag
Last week I pulled out some scrap fabrics to start a new quilt...but then decided to start a new project (I feel like I have crafting ADD sometimes) and make up a tote bag for summer instead. The quilt is still cut and waiting for me, but I am waiting for a 50% off coupon so that I can get a whole bolt of Kona white for the sashings (I am a cheapskate....I know.) But I do love this bag. It is BIG (great for summer) and it was an afternoon project. I used the quilt-as-you-go method that I ... View the Post
Gracie’s Must Have Summer Maxi Dress (Season 2)
A few nights ago Gracie and I made another one of her "Must Have Summer Maxi Dresses". She chose the fabrics and then I sewed it up using the same steps I used in the tutorial I put together for her first "must have summer maxi dress": (I still love this dress!) The only change we made to the dress this time was letting Grace choose the fabrics and adding a shorter, knee length layer on top of the maxi layer. She's kind of impressed with herself. (She even has plans for more...and heaven help ... View the Post
Summer Sewing
I have a girlie who has outgrown much of her summer wardrobe. We actually went shopping a few weeks ago to find some staples, as in shorts and a few shirts, but came home mostly empty-handed....because either the waists fit and they were too shorty-mc-shorty or the length fit but she cant keep them up. Soooo....I guess that means I need to get busy and sew up a few things for summer. This dress I actually sewed up a couple of months ago, and found again when unpacking summer things. So, we ... The Art of Homemaking: Family Traditions, Memorial Day
Family Traditions. I'm big on them. And yesterday we kept one of my favorites. Memorial Day. I know that memorial day means a lot of different things to a lot of different people....and that everyone has their own way of observing it. From breakfasts to BBQ's and from public gatherings to private prayer. For my family we annually visit at least 3 different cemeteries (and often more). We caravan with parents, grandparents, and siblings from place to place stopping in between for sodas ... View the Post
A Churndash Quilt
I got my Churndash quilt back from Melissa last week and am excited to get some binding on it today. I think I am going with some sort of green but can't find what I want in my stash......which might mean a trip to the fabric store (who can resist that?). This guy is a big quilt.....the finished blocks are 9 1/2 if I remember right and the quilt is 6 rows across and 8 down with sashing in between. It's going to take quite a few nights of handsewing to get the binding on...but I promise to ... View the Post
