Yesterday on Facebook I posted a picture of Gracie's currently lime green hair and asked if any of you could guess what had happened to it...that was kind of an unfair question...there was pretty much no way you were ever going to guess. Sorry...I wasn't trying to be difficult...ok, maybe I was but today I'll explain what happened. Here's the story of how I turned Grace's hair green: Saturday was Holi Fest at the Sri Sri Radha Krishna Lotus Temple. It's an annual event and loads of fun so when my ... View the Post
The Art of Homemaking: Because they deserve my best
When liZ and I went to hear Daryl Hoole give a homemaking talk last fall, one of the things she said that night stuck out to me as if it were written in a neon, blinking billboard across my forehead. It was the phrase... "Children deserve your best, not what is leftover."I have been thinking about that thought a lot lately...and have changed it to "my family deserves my best, not what is leftover." I am not sure what it is like at your house, but just about the time the big kids come home from ... View the Post

After graduating from a local university I began using my degree teaching art and history. (A job that I LOVED.) During my second year of teaching I discovered a night class that another university offered that I could attend and earn a degree in special education...and before I knew it I had finished the course and was off to ... Coming Home
Yesterday I came back from 3 nights away from home. And while 3 nights isn't a long time, when you are away from your family it feels like an eternity! Elizabeth and I had been gone on an adventure (a cold, wet, funny, colorful, eventful adventure) which we enjoyed but we missed our family's something terrible. (Yes we are babies.) In fact when Elizabeth's family came to pick us up from the airport she left me in the dust running across the crosswalk to get to them...but that's ok I ... View the Post
