So, one Easter outfit has been ready for awhile....it's just Hannah's dress that is giving me grief (dress #2 actually). Hopefully I can finish it up this morning and show you tonight...(if the weather is good enough for some pictures. I have this idea for a photo shoot.....and I need good weather.) I made Isaac's pants using Oliver + S's Sailboat Pants Pattern (this pattern was a total splurge for me).....but I love, love, love the way they came out. I used a heavier-weight twill fabric ... Trivet Headband Tutorial
I love this kid. She melts my heart. And I love making things for her. It's like putting the icing on the cake, it's like putting the ribbon on the package, it's like one of my favorite things in the whole world. Who wouldn't want to play dress up with something so wonderful? (And I know that is how all you moms and grandma's feel about your little ones...I think that is why we all craft.) Anyways, currently this is a project that I love to make. It's easy and fun and little girls look adorable ... View the Post
A Circle Skirt…..WITH POCKETS! (And a tutorial for the pockets)
When I first starting sewing again about 4 or so years ago I started with three things.....pillowcase dresses, pinafores, and circle skirts. And I sewed A LOT of them. A LOT. Hannie had pillowcase dresses, pinafores, and circle skirts in every shade of the rainbow and every print available. And then I kind of started to branch out..... Modern Madeline and zippers…
Liz showed you yesterday her story book characters (I happen to love the one of Simon laughing...) and today I am showing you mine, along with the tutorial for "when you don't want to use a zipper." I think I made it sound more magical than what it really is...but I will share it today. One of my favorite books growing up were the Madeline series...I think because even from an early age I was obsessed with all things French. I even read them again in French in high school. So, here is my ... View the Post
Pattern cutting 101.
If you've never cut a pattern out before...this is for you! I chose a simple apron top pattern from Tuesday's pattern post. It is simple and only has two parts so it won't be super complicated....but you can get some idea on how to cut out a pattern if you haven't ever done it. And I am loving the apron top, I think it turned out very cute. I think I will be making a few more for Spring and Summer. Especially because they are truly a "nap time" project. Which is exactly what I need at the ... View the Post
The Bustle Skirt Tutorial.
*This tutorial is for personal use only. Please contact us to buy a limited-use permit to sell any item made from this tutorial.* The tutorial you (or I should say I) have been on pins and needles for..... The Bustle Skirt. A couple of notes that people have asked that are not answered in the tutorial. What type of fabric did you use? Both the yellow and the purple skirts are bottomweight fabric. The yellow fabric was $1.50 on red tag clearance, which I think I ... View the Post
