Today for $5 Friday I am going to share one of my favorite projects---Mod Podge Peg People! You can buy these little wooden peggies at most craft stores (like Michael's, JoAnn's, Hobby Lobby, etc). Depending on their size (these are 2 inches tall) and where you buy them their price will vary. But if you buy them in the pack of 3 they should always cost less than $5 for 3 of them. Alright let's get started. Here's how to make them: #1. Paint your dolls head the flesh color of your ... View the Post
Project Run and Play–Boy’s Week
We can't just NOT sew along for Project Run and Play! So this week, of course, I had boys on the brain. And this is a project I have been wanting to do for awhile. A little man romper for the cutest toddler in my life.I used what was the bodice pattern of a vintage pattern shirt (for a girl----shh!), took out the puffed sleeves, totally rebuilt the collar and worked with it until it came out like a little boy's 1950's shirt. My one regret is that I didn't make it quite long enough (he was ... View the Post
A Felt Pirate Hat Pattern
Our family is planning a little Disney trip here soon and we are going to be going to a pirate party. And since we are traveling I don't want to take costumes....so here is my easy solution. A fold up pirate hat, that won't take up hardly any room in the suitcases. Perfect. ... View the Post
A Vintagely Modern Skirt
One thing that I LOVE to sew is something vintage mixed with a modern twist. And this skirt is just the ticket.... I based it on a skirt that I pinned months ago. What a fun modern color-blocked skirt was my first thought when I pinned it. But when I examined a couple of the close-up pictures I realized that it really was a total throw-back full gathered skirt from the 1950's that I put on dresses all the time. Here is the original skirt from Elias and Grace... I absolutely love ... View the Post
The Pajama Game, part 2
Here are the boys' jammies, well just one boy, the other one is wearing his. I used this vintage pattern for their little man pajamas. And since the pattern was smack dab in the middle of the boys sizes, I sized one pair up....and one pair down and luckily it worked! My favorite part....the orange vintage buttons that I just happened to find seven of. Four for the big boy, and three on the little boy's shirts. I seriously love vintage buttons. And just a reminder....Project Run and ... View the Post
$5 Christmas Dishtowel Apron Tutorial
Today I thought I'd share an easy $5 gift idea. I actually shared it a few weeks ago on a friends blog but am posting it over here today just in case anyone is like me and needs some last minute ideas. It's my favorite kind of apron---a dishtowel bar apron. I love it because it is a half apron (I like them best) and because it is made from a dishtowel it washes wonderfully and doesn't need to be ironed. (I'm one of those people who hates to iron so anytime I can avoid ... View the Post
