One thing that I LOVE to sew is something vintage mixed with a modern twist. And this skirt is just the ticket.... I based it on a skirt that I pinned months ago. What a fun modern color-blocked skirt was my first thought when I pinned it. But when I examined a couple of the close-up pictures I realized that it really was a total throw-back full gathered skirt from the 1950's that I put on dresses all the time. Here is the original skirt from Elias and Grace... I absolutely love ... View the Post
The Pajama Game, part 2
Here are the boys' jammies, well just one boy, the other one is wearing his. I used this vintage pattern for their little man pajamas. And since the pattern was smack dab in the middle of the boys sizes, I sized one pair up....and one pair down and luckily it worked! My favorite part....the orange vintage buttons that I just happened to find seven of. Four for the big boy, and three on the little boy's shirts. I seriously love vintage buttons. And just a reminder....Project Run and ... View the Post
$5 Christmas Dishtowel Apron Tutorial
Today I thought I'd share an easy $5 gift idea. I actually shared it a few weeks ago on a friends blog but am posting it over here today just in case anyone is like me and needs some last minute ideas. It's my favorite kind of apron---a dishtowel bar apron. I love it because it is a half apron (I like them best) and because it is made from a dishtowel it washes wonderfully and doesn't need to be ironed. (I'm one of those people who hates to iron so anytime I can avoid ... View the Post
$5 Christmas—Felt Bow Jewelry
Hannie wanted to make some gifts for her friends and we needed some gifts for some tween and teen cousins, so we sat down one afternoon and made a couple of presents. Felt bow rings for Hannie's friends and a necklace and ring set for the cousins. I ordered all the supplies off etsy or ebay and they are super reasonable.....and if you don't want to put felt bows on them....you could do anything you want on the front of them. We got 20 ring backs for about $5 (they are even cheaper in larger ... View the Post
Thrifted Thursday: Peg Doll Canvas Tutorial
Ok, so everyone knows that I'm crazy about peg dolls so it should seem just about right that I figured out how to hang them on my walls. I promise one day I'll give up the Peggies. But that day is not today and today I'm sharing how to make peg doll canvases. What does this have to do with "Thrifted Thursday"? Well, I made this little lady out of thrifted fabric and am planning on making some more out of some other, more obviously thrifted (and 60's) fabric. Anyways, if you want to make ... View the Post
Suspenders Tutorial
This morning I realized that I never posted the suspenders tutorial I made for Project Run and Play on on our blog so.......since #1 suspenders are on my mind (due to the fact that I'm making some red ones for Grace this week) and #2 I've spent all my spare time talking to Elizabeth about our super exciting news (which we will be sharing VERY soon) instead of sewing I give you the suspenders tutorial. I love suspenders. I think it comes with being a product of the 80's and the fact that I had ... View the Post
