Today's $5 Friday is an easy craft that you can do with girls of any age. Hannie was the yarn-wrapper, and I was the tie-er and gluer. And we had a fun time. On some we did regular old alligator clips. And on some we tied in hair elastics (with a dab of hot glue to keep them in there better). But someone is now convinced that the hair ties look much better as bracelets. And well, I think she might be right! Any fun weekend plans? ~Elizabeth ... View the Post
Ghosts of Blogging Past…..and Summer Projects
June and October are my 2 favorite months. Both of them seem so full of possibilities---October when the seasons change and the holidays are just beginning and June with the start of summer and all the fun waiting to be had... This is our first official week of summer vacation but so far it hasn't started off like I planned...we have the flu. (Seriously---how can we be sick during my favorite time of year?) But I'm hoping that the worst is over and we can start our summer fun.Which means that ... View the Post
Gracie’s Must Have Summer Maxi Dress Tutorial
Today I am sharing a quick and EASY girls maxi dress tutorial! I made this dress for Gracie the other night and she wore it all day yesterday...it's a new favorite. When I had the idea I wasn't sure how it would turn out so we used some crazy supplies but now that I've made one I want to make like 10 more and this time use nicer T-shirts and some of the "good" polyester from my secret hoard. If you want to make one of these girls maxi dresses it is seriously the easiest project ever and ... View the Post
A Melon Blocked Skirt
Ok, today I've got another skirt... Right now solids are my favorite fabrics---more than prints...more than stripes...more than polka dots (and that is saying something because I really love stripes and polka dots) and this skirt I can make out of any combination of solids I choose. It's a new favorite of mine and it's really easy to make (one of those nap time projects). Here's how to make one: First measure your little one's waist. Now take the waist measurement and double it. ... View the Post
Sewing with Vintage Patterns
I think we are most excited about Vintage May because we LOVE vintage. Like, really love. Like, we have been hoarding collecting vintage patterns since we both began to seriously sew again (going on 4+ years) and our stashes are pretty hefty. Hefty enough that a new shelf had to be purchased in the last couple of months to hold them all. And vintage fabric.....well, don't even get us started on that addiction. It is a hoarding problem too! Ok, back to vintage patterns---that's why we are ... View the Post
Sewing: Taking Your Measurements
We shared this awhile ago over at Kojo for their Sewing for Me Series.....but in case you missed it here is our take on measurement taking. Hello. It's us, Elizabeth and liZ from over at Simple Simon and Company. Now, we know that you are probably thinking that we only make kids clothes. And you're right...kind of. While we are wild about children's clothing (sewing it, photographing it, styling it, designing it, embellishing it, whatever) what you may not know is that we are also ... View the Post
