Ok, today I've got another skirt... Right now solids are my favorite fabrics---more than prints...more than stripes...more than polka dots (and that is saying something because I really love stripes and polka dots) and this skirt I can make out of any combination of solids I choose. It's a new favorite of mine and it's really easy to make (one of those nap time projects). Here's how to make one: First measure your little one's waist. Now take the waist measurement and double it. ... View the Post
Sewing with Vintage Patterns
I think we are most excited about Vintage May because we LOVE vintage. Like, really love. Like, we have been hoarding collecting vintage patterns since we both began to seriously sew again (going on 4+ years) and our stashes are pretty hefty. Hefty enough that a new shelf had to be purchased in the last couple of months to hold them all. And vintage fabric.....well, don't even get us started on that addiction. It is a hoarding problem too! Ok, back to vintage patterns---that's why we are ... View the Post
Sewing: Taking Your Measurements
We shared this awhile ago over at Kojo for their Sewing for Me Series.....but in case you missed it here is our take on measurement taking. Hello. It's us, Elizabeth and liZ from over at Simple Simon and Company. Now, we know that you are probably thinking that we only make kids clothes. And you're right...kind of. While we are wild about children's clothing (sewing it, photographing it, styling it, designing it, embellishing it, whatever) what you may not know is that we are also ... View the Post
The Love Me Two Times Skirt
Ok so I made another "Love" skirt. I made the All You Need Is Love Skirt back in February but then last week I got to peruse some of Riley Blake's solids and decided it was time to make another one. But this time using cotton instead of knit and felt. I made it just like our Simple Spring Skirts but just added the word "LOVE" between steps 3 and 4. It was really easy and if you want to make one here's what to do: (I just drew out the letters by hand because, well, I like drawing ... View the Post
A May Day Flower Headband Tutorial.
(Or even a flower girl headband -- wouldn't they be absolutely darling!) Happy May Day! I know the origin of the holiday has changed a number of times, but I love the idea of celebrating Spring. I remember in Elementary school learning Maypole dances and even then I just loved the idea of girls in Spring dresses dancing, throwing flowers and all-around celebrating Spring (I think it was all the Anne of Green Gables I read as a girl.) So, we had to celebrate May Day in style. With two little ... View the Post
It’s Time to Add One More Chair…
I like to dabble in a lot of different things---and painting has always been one of them. Before Simon was born I bought a little raw wood chair which sat in my basement until he was about 3 when I decided to paint it up for him. This is how it turned out: The quote along the top comes from the book "The Little Prince" by Antoine de Saint-Exupery which I was rereading at the time. It is from one of my favorite sections of the book where the Little Prince is having a conversation with a fox ... View the Post
