I got obsessed with cabochons a year or two ago and bought a whole bunch off of etsy---and then discovered that you could make your own! I ordered the supplies over a year ago (the story of my life) but every afternoon I have been trying to come up with a project to do with the kids and found this one. Aaron wasn't too interested (and decided to do legos instead) but Hannah and I had fun. If you want to make your own cabochons you will need.... Both the Premo Sculpey and the Sculpey glaze I ... $5 Friday—Little Artist ApronTutorial
This week my kids and I finally made our summer to-do list. It's a little different this year but I'm really happy with it and so are the kids. I think that I'll probably share it with you this weekend but for today I'm going to post a tutorial that I got to share over at Mama Says Sew a few weeks ago. It's for a little artist apron, something that will be a well used item this summer---especially with the summer art camps that I will start teaching on Monday. (I LOVE summer art ... View the Post
Ruth’s Button on Bibs (A How To)
I am so excited for summer! There are lots of reasons for this but not one of the least of them being that summer means showing off little baby arms and chubby baby legs! (Oh my goodness do I ever love my babies in summer rompers!) A few weeks ago I pulled out some patterns I've been hanging onto from the 50's and sewed them on up for baby Ruth. They are plain and simple and I love them. But then I remembered some pictures I had seen with bibs that were buttoned onto these kinds of jumpers ... View the Post
A 3-Seam Caftan Tutorial.
We still have a lot to tell you about our whirlwind "Lucy and Ethel take on the LA Fashion District" trip (Liz shared part I yesterday) and I will be back with another round of that (including fabric pics) on Thursday....but in the meantime I have one of the easiest dresses on the planet to make---3 seams and NO hemming. Yes! Seriously, the perfect for summer. At the end of our pattern drafting class, both Liz and I got obsessed with caftans. She made the Endora top using the caftan ... View the Post
$5 Friday: Pom Pom Hairclips
Today's $5 Friday is an easy craft that you can do with girls of any age. Hannie was the yarn-wrapper, and I was the tie-er and gluer. And we had a fun time. On some we did regular old alligator clips. And on some we tied in hair elastics (with a dab of hot glue to keep them in there better). But someone is now convinced that the hair ties look much better as bracelets. And well, I think she might be right! Any fun weekend plans? ~Elizabeth ... View the Post
Ghosts of Blogging Past…..and Summer Projects
June and October are my 2 favorite months. Both of them seem so full of possibilities---October when the seasons change and the holidays are just beginning and June with the start of summer and all the fun waiting to be had... This is our first official week of summer vacation but so far it hasn't started off like I planned...we have the flu. (Seriously---how can we be sick during my favorite time of year?) But I'm hoping that the worst is over and we can start our summer fun.Which means that ... View the Post
