liZ and I had the opportunity to come up with a fun #turkeytablescape for Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Store's challenge to put together a Thanksgiving table for your family. And this challenge was a fun one for us. Even from the beginning, we knew we wanted to do a kid's table---and make it simple and kid-friendly, which are two things we love. So, off we went with our gift card in hand (thanks to Jo-Ann!) to buy all the necessities for our table. And here's what started the whole ... View the Post
$5 Friday Thanksgiving Favors (I’m Thankful for You Because…)
Today's post is something I've been wanting to do for a long time now but never have. Back when I taught school there were several years where I wrote each of my students an individual letter telling them why I was thankful to have them in my class. It was always a good experience for me even though it was time consuming. (I taught junior high full time and had more than just one classroom full of students) I don't like insincerity. At all. Not one little bit. So when I wrote those ... View the Post
$5 Friday—Handmade Baby Bibs {Quilt-as-you-go}
I am kind of addicted to the quilt-as-you-go method. Thanks to whoever was the genius who figured it out....and thanks to all those who have posted tutorials on this simple quilting technique! It's fast and easy and GREAT for little projects. A couple of friends in my neighborhood had babies recently and so I decided to use the quilt-as-you go technique on some baby bibs. By the way, baby bibs were one of the first things I started making when I started sewing again 10 years ago and they ... View the Post

An Old Fashioned Christmas Tree Skirt Tutorial and Free Pattern
Yes, I know Halloween was just yesterday but Elizabeth and I have more holiday projects, tutorials, activities, and announcements planned than there are days to share them on so we need to get started. First in line is this Christmas Tree skirt that I shared over the summer over at The Moda Bake Shop. (When I made it Christmas seemed so far away and now it's right around the corner!) When it comes to Christmas I'm always looking to the past...I love anything traditional, vintage, and ... View the Post
A Witch in Training….
I am so close to finishing up costumes. Well, one costume that has taken me forever. I keep second guessing myself...but I am now seeing the finish line so I WILL show you on Friday. ( I just need an hour or so with my glue gun to finish up the props and we are set!) And the other two costumes....they were store-bought. Which at first made me sad. I really wanted to continue the handmade tradition. But I have since gotten over it....it's not the end of the world and it's what they wanted. ... View the Post
