How to make a Pajama Pants Pattern from Jeans---An EASY tutorial: It seems like about this time every year I start my list of things to make for my kids for Christmas. And every year I put pajama pants on that list. And every year I end up running out of time and buying them on Christmas Eve. Well not this year!!!This week I started making the Christmas pajama pants and I started with Simon's.I made them during naptime and without a "pattern". I don't know why I hadn't thought of it ... An Old Fashioned Christmas Tree Skirt Tutorial and Free Pattern
Yes, I know Halloween was just yesterday but Elizabeth and I have more holiday projects, tutorials, activities, and announcements planned than there are days to share them on so we need to get started. First in line is this Christmas Tree skirt that I shared over the summer over at The Moda Bake Shop. (When I made it Christmas seemed so far away and now it's right around the corner!) When it comes to Christmas I'm always looking to the past...I love anything traditional, vintage, and ... View the Post
A Witch in Training….
I am so close to finishing up costumes. Well, one costume that has taken me forever. I keep second guessing myself...but I am now seeing the finish line so I WILL show you on Friday. ( I just need an hour or so with my glue gun to finish up the props and we are set!) And the other two costumes....they were store-bought. Which at first made me sad. I really wanted to continue the handmade tradition. But I have since gotten over it....it's not the end of the world and it's what they wanted. ... View the Post
Easy Paperbag Shirt Dress Tutorial
I have been working on a few pieces for fall this year. Not too many...but I do have a mini-winter collection coming up in a few weeks, because I can't help but doing something with a color story....I just can't...but for fall I mostly did store-bought (boo...I wish I had more time). But for school, I have made a few things that are easy, comfy and still look super cute on for Hannie to wear year round. And I decided an update to the tee-shirt dress was in order for school. It's actually ... View the Post
$5 Friday: Spooky Dry Ice Experiments for Halloween Part 1
Today's project comes from an afternoon at Simon's "Man Science Club". It was one of the boys favorites and I liked it to...it was cool and required almost no preparation and the clean up was minimal. And although we did these experiments in the summer they would be perfect to do this time of year...especially at a Halloween party! Here's what you'll need: *dry ice (can be purchased at most Wal-Mart's or local grocery stores) *a regular ice cube *2 plates *2 napkins or paper towels *A ... View the Post
Simple Spider Web Skirt Tutorial
I know, I know I'm posting yet another yarn embellished skirt. (But you know how I get...once I get going on something it's hard for me to stop...but I'll try to control myself and only post one more yarnified skirt after this one.)I made this skirt the other day for Grace to wear during the spooky season. It is made from a light weight corduroy and has a simple elastic waistband. To make this skirt I cut the fabric to the necessary measurements and then "hemmed" (or finished) the bottom ...
