I don't usually post photographs of myself. But this is one I don't want to forget. You see, I think it documents the last time my Simon will not be too old to hold his mother's hand. Last month we went with my parents to Disneyland. (Thank you again Mom and Dad.) I love that place...I'm still 8 years old every single time I walk inside those gates and I love every second of it...anyway...while we were there Simon was dying for me to ride "Screamin'" with him. So I did. When we climbed ... View the Post
Orange, flannel and polka dots….
Today we are taking part in Riley Blake Designs Flannel tour...and it is absolutely perfect timing. The youngest was in desperate need of some new lounge-wear because his old ones were half-way up the calves (more like capris!) and only 3/4 sleeves. But he would still insist on putting them on every night. I even tried to hide the last too-small pair at the top of his closet and he still found them. But how could I blame him.....I love soft flannel lounging wear too...especially because the ... View the Post
DIY Giant Wooden Dominoes (A Homemade Christmas Gift Success Story)
My husband and I always make our children at least one homemade gift each year for Christmas. Sometimes they are a hit and sometimes they are a miss. Luckily last year our idea was a hit. A BIG one! A family set of over sized Dominoes! My husband cut the set out of pine planks from Home Depot and each domino is roughly 3 and 1/2 inches by 5 inches. (Which has been a perfect size!) Then he used a saw to cut the middle notch. (Being careful not to cut through the domino.) And ... View the Post
$5 Friday: Spooky Dry Ice Experiments for Halloween Part 1
Today's project comes from an afternoon at Simon's "Man Science Club". It was one of the boys favorites and I liked it to...it was cool and required almost no preparation and the clean up was minimal. And although we did these experiments in the summer they would be perfect to do this time of year...especially at a Halloween party! Here's what you'll need: *dry ice (can be purchased at most Wal-Mart's or local grocery stores) *a regular ice cube *2 plates *2 napkins or paper towels *A ... View the Post
Sew Many Books Series
Today we are joining Emily for her fantastic Sew Many Books series. And as a former elementary school teacher and therefore children's-literature-hoarder this is one series that is right up my alley....I chose a 1964 classic children's book that is all about a lion named......See you THERE!!!~Elizabeth ... $5 Friday—Simple Science Experiments
So for what seems like forever now Simon has been after me to let him start a club. A "Man Science Club". So this summer I finally let him do it. He and 5 buddies have been meeting every other week to conduct science experiments. Seeing how science isn't really my thing I wasn't sure how this was going to go.Fortunately it's been really, really fun. Here are a few of the things that we did our first week:We were talking about reactions...items that repel & items that attract... We started ... View the Post
