This month as we have been talking about "Teaching the One" to sew I started thinking about my own sewing journey. My Grandma tried to instill in me a love for quilting as I was growing up with her numerous quilts spread across her mothers quilt frames...that I enjoyed using for forts...and not learning moments. My Home Ec teacher tried to teach me proper techniques but...eventually had to kick me out of the class when I was far more interested in goofing off than in sewing. My Mom ... View the Post
They always wake up a day older…
The other day my four year old and I were sitting at the table and eating snacks. I was sipping a soda and he was munching on a bowl of Pepperidge Farm® Goldfish® crackers... something we've both been doing for years. He was telling me all about his field trip to the farm the day before and did I realize how stinky the pigs really were, and how there was a baby horse that lives with the goats and how hilarious that was....and it was one of those mornings that I want to remember. Just one of ... View the Post
Sewing Snippets
Happy Wednesday! I can't believe that April is almost gone...it has seriously flown by. And here comes May...full of last day of school events and all its business. As you read this I'm probably in the hospital getting some IV treatments that I've been waiting for for what seems like an eternity and I am hopeful that they will help. Now, I'm not tell telling you this so that you ... View the Post
17 Tips for Communicating with Kids

I wrote it late one night after a conversation with my husband about our son growing up and my determination to keep the lines of communication open with him. It was a list of questions that I actually started asking him and found success with. To say that I was taken back by the response it received is an understatement. The amount of page views that ... Works in Progress
Do you ever have those months where you feel like you are spinning your wheels? And you have nothing to show for it? Well, that's me this month. I have so many works in progress that it's not funny. And I feel like if I write them down I will get better about getting them accomplished. Most of these things are already cut out, I just need to sit down and actually sew them ;) So, here's my sewing list for Spring (to sew before school gets out): ... View the Post
