The last 3 years that I taught school I was a junior high, special education teacher where most of my classes were mild/moderate literacy courses. It was a great job that I loved. The 4 previous years were spent teaching art at a lock down school---another job that was AWESOME!!!! Each of these jobs taught me unique and important lessons---everything from the value of those crazy teenage souls to knowing how to "ghetto rig" an outfit. But today I want to share something simple, practical, and ... View the Post
Tales of High Fevers and Failed Plans
A week ago today I was curled up in a ball, running a fever, hallucinating and barely able to take care of myself let alone my family. I felt sad and overwhelmed. Starting at about 3:00am on Thanksgiving morning until now we have had at least one sick person at our house constantly. We've had everything from influenza to ear infections. And poor baby Ruth she had pneumonia and then got croup on top of that! I was freaking out. Literally this past month everything has taken a back seat to ... View the Post
Do You See What I See?
So back HERE in October I got to try a new pair of glasses from Firmoo.com. It worked out perfectly because awhile ago Grace and Ruth destroyed my old pair and I really did need a new pair of glasses. (Plus I felt cool thinking I would be getting a new pair of glasses for free. It wasn't until later that I realized that they give new customers their first pair free. Anyways...) I'd been enjoying my glasses for several weeks when Firmoo.com contacted me again asking if I'd like to try a ... View the Post
Look Book Inspiration

On Halloweens Past….
(I found this handmade clown costume at a garage sale this summer and fell in love. The yellow is polyester awesomeness, and someone took a lot of time to make it. I can't wait until next year for the youngest to wear it.....)Recently, we were having a discussion about Halloween costumes of years past recently. As in, what costumes we were when we were little. We came up with a hobos, scarecrows, ghosts with good 'ole sheets thrown over our heads, a bag of jellybeans (garbage bag with ... View the Post
On Mending (Part 2)
Back in April I wrote this post about mending. This weekend I thought again about mending...about how sometimes things take longer than planned...about how much we take for granted. Since writing my last post I've "passed off" all that I needed to in my physical therapy...and have started running again.I have to admit that I cried the first time I went running again. (I know...I know..it's ridiculous to cry about running but the more you get to know me the more ridiculous you see that I am.) So ... View the Post
