Be Kind To Yourself During February we are often thinking more about love and kind things we can do for others...but I think we need to remember to be kind to ourselves this month too. As moms we need to remember to not compare ourselves or judge ourselves by what other's are doing...this is our own personal race, not theirs. So, I've been brainstorming ways we can be kinder to ourselves this month and I am giving you all permission to do some (or all) of them! Ways to Be Kind To ... View the Post
From Now On… (An Art of Homemaking Post)
I don't know if you have seen the movie "The Greatest Showman" yet (don't worry if you haven't, I won't give away any spoilers) but we have been listening to the soundtrack in the car for the last couple of weeks. I really really liked that show and my two tweens and teens even went and saw it again with friends. It's a movie for the whole family! And I love the music because everyone of my kids loves it--from my 15 year old down to the 7 year old. Isn't it great when everyone can agree on ... View the Post
Saving What We Love (An Art of Homemaking Post)

The Art of Homemaking: Giving Comfort and Joy

Then I get a text from my son that same afternoon that his high school was on "lockout" and he didn't know what was going on but they were told it was not a drill. He was texting me from a dark room where everyone was sitting in ... View the Post

I had a realization this last summer that I only have 3 more summers with my oldest before he will be moving out....and I realized how much he still needs to know. (HA!) There is so much growing up that happens in these last teenage years and I know I am not ready for it all. Yes, there are the big ones like learning to drive, date, school and relationships, but I have realized there are so many more smaller things that I am over looking. So, I've started making a list of 25 things to teach ... View the Post
The Art of Homemaking: Learn to Rest
"When you get tired, learn to rest, but don't quit." Several weeks ago I found myself one afternoon having a breakdown. It was a week where everything went wrong. The kids had so many things going on but yet were not willing to get any of them done. It was end of term (enough said). Projects, homework galore. They were also constantly fighting with each other about the most inane things. I couldn't get dinner on the table to save my life. I forgot appointments. I was done. And done. And ... View the Post
