Several weeks ago when Elizabeth and I got to meet Daryl Hoole we also got to listen to her give an entire lecture on raising children...and I took like a million pages of notes... One of the things that she said that stuck with me was:"What gets measured gets done." I have always liked to make lists and cross things off of them.I make a "Things to do today" list every single day.(It's just one of those habits...I drop off the car pool, go and get a soda, then make my list...every ... The Art of Homemaking: Freezer Meals
Can I tell you that I love freezer meals? I really do. They started out as a necessity for me during a rough time in my life but I have grown to love them. They really are a life saver. I don't know what it is about a freezer meal but I feel like such a better wife and mother when I know that I have something in the freezer that I can pull out on a whim and feed everyone in an hour or so. (Now that's not saying that I don't call my husband and tell him to stop at Del Taco for 59 cent taco ... View the Post
The Art of Homemaking: You’ll Never Believe Who We Met This Week
We can't believe it ourselves. We met the one and only Daryl Hoole!(And she even signed our "Art of Homemaking " books.) Elizabeth and I went to hear her speak Wednesday night at a nearby University and she was everything we imagined she would be. She was dressed in an amazing red suit, pearl necklace and dangly earrings. She is a lady. I enjoyed watching how she carried herself almost as much as listening (and taking 5 pages of notes) to what she had to say. She had poise and ... View the Post
The Art of Homemaking: I’ve been keeping a secret
Ok...I've been keeping a secret...I started through "The Art of Homemaking" book...again...without you.I'm sorry. There has been so much going on around here, too many things to post and I really needed to get back to the book. I'd been falling back into old habits and needed to start over again. So I did. I started with "FACET NO. 1 THE TWO A's"(which are attitude and appearance) In her section on attitude Daryl Hoole says your attitude will improve if you "are at your physical best at all ... The Art of Homemaking: 25 meals
Last week I posted about meal planning. And in that post I said I have a list of meals that we regularly rotate through (kind of like our go-to meals that everyone eats and likes) hanging on my fridge that I use to look through when I'm planning out our weekly dinner menu. I said in that post that I'd bet if you sat down and listed the meals you make regularly you'd come out with about 25. I got lots of emails and comments about this. Some of you had quite a few more than 25 and others of you ... View the Post
The Art of Homemaking: Meal Planning
Now there aren't many things I have under control around here right now......the laundry......my closet......the storage room......getting fully dressed before going out in public... But there is one thing that I finally have down to a science and that is meal planning.(And if that ever breaks down heaven help my family.) Here's what I do: On the side of my fridge I have hanging a list (just a simple list on lined paper...it hasn't been scrapbooked and isn't a printable...) that lists the ... View the Post
