Did you see us at Kiki Create's "All About Easter" yet? Did you see where we debuted what the Easter Bunny could be dropping in your little girlie's basket? If not head over there to see some dolls that we made. Then come back for the tutorial...you really don't want to miss this one.Aren't they adorable? Both Liz and I are kind of in love with them....(maybe even as much or more than our girlies). They are just so dang cute.Ok, first things first. You buy the dolls! Fabulous, huh? And they ... Another Vintage Pattern. And a dress.
This dress is made from a 1968 pattern. And wow, this bodice took me a long time. I kept making dumb mistakes and having to pick out whole seams....yikes. I was also loving this gingham in the store....but as I kept unpicking seams it got more and more "red ridingish" for me. I decided then to add some turquoise for contrast....but I don't know.....a good play dress I guess. What are you sewing this week? Or unpicking seams on? (That's my world sometimes.....) P.S. Spring Fever: It’s Time to Think about the Easter Dress
A few weeks ago my mom made this dress for Gracie. It is made from a pattern from the 1950's and I love the Shirley Templeness of it. Looking at Gracie in this helped me decide that this is the year that I am going to make her Easter dress. I can do this. I won't be afraid. I have several patterns, all from the 50's and 60's, that I think would be awesome. BUT, I can't decide on the pattern (full and frilly or plain and ... View the Post
Another Vintage Dress.
I think that we need an acronym for Another Vintage Dress, 'cause it seems like that is the title of half my posts. But AVD just sounds like some very bad disease (it probaby is and I don't even know it) so we'll just go with Another Vintage Dress. Anyway, I took this 1972 pattern: and made this dress..... with this cute yolk and sleeves. I used some apples and pears fabric from the calico wall at Joann's when they were 30% off a month or so ago. I was loving the look of this ... View the Post
Rag Tote Bag Tutorial–The 4 Patch Bag
*Before we start this party I need to type up a disclaimer.* Disclaimer: I don't have an awesome camera of coolness. I don't even have a camera that can focus. So go easy on the grumbling when you check out the following tutorial. And also---whether Elizabeth made these bags up or not, I don't know, all I know is that she showed me how to make them and so I'm giving a big thank you to her for this idea, that I have been obsessed with, for the past 3 years. Ok, now that ... View the Post
A Brand New Vintage Tunic
I bought this vintage fabric ages ago. Then I found this vintage pattern. And when I put them both together Gracie ended up with a brand new vintage tunic...which I love. Unfortunately she was not in the photo taking mood on the afternoon she first wore it...more like the look anywhere and everywhere except at the camera mood...fortunately the back of the tunic looks an awful lot like the front of the tunic so, you pretty much get the idea. And either way it reminds me of my childhood and ... View the Post
