I made these totes for the kid's teachers this year...and I will let you in on a little secret.....they only cost me a dollar. Really.I stumbled across these tote bags at Dollar Tree last year and bought 2. And carried them around all summer. They are perfect pool bags, and I even have one in the car for a grocery sack if I need it. Yes, they are not real canvas but man are they sturdy. So, this summer I stocked up. And decided they would be great teacher totes. They are the perfect size ... View the Post
A White Shirt Dress…
I found this Land's End junior's shirt on my last thrifting trip for $2. I loved the Peter Pan collar (I am kind of a sucker for anything with a peter pan collar) and decided it would be a good school dress for the newest First Grader around this house.I thought when I first bought it that I would have to take in the sides...but it worked perfectly as a bigger shirt dress. All I really did to it was add some belt loops for a ribbon belt, and chop off the sleeves and put in an elastic casing. We ... View the Post

Thrifted Thursday– A Pink Dress and some thoughts…..
I found this vintage pinkalicious dress at a thrift store when I was in IL this summer. It is seriously the sweetest dress I have ever come across. I snatched it up even before looking at the size...and lo and behold it fits....and it is gorgeous. (And $4.99----SCORE!!!!!)One of the things I noticed right away when I picked it up was that it was handmade and it made me love the dress even more. I thought about someone sewing a special pink dress for a special little girl...and thought what ... View the Post
Linen and Vintage Lace Belt
In case you missed this post a couple of weeks ago on Sew Homegrown.... I have had linen and lace on the brain lately. Sadly, I have had a summer bag cut out of linen and lace for over a month now that was inspired by Jessica's market bag, but I need the energy to start it. I have had much more success with smaller projects lately. Maybe sometime soon I will get more enthusiasm for a bigger and longer project. Anyway, this belt was made from the scraps of the linen and lace bag. The ... View the Post
