This week the challenge was to upcycle and thrift. Which you all know how much we love! Although finding enough fabric for both outfits proved to be a challenge. The inspiration for our outfits came from a Vintage Idol-- Miss Audrey. Who was (and still is) a fashion icon in her own right. So, we made our girls into modern Audreys....and boy did we have fun during this photo shoot. (Sorry there really is a picture explosion coming....)We decided to do an urban photo shoot this time and boy was ... View the Post
Beet Dyed Onesies
That's right. I said "beet dyed onesies". Weird? Probably. But I didn't start coloring my baby's undershirts with food all at once. There was a method to my madness and it all started here when I made these: Tea dyed onesies. And I love them. And I started to think if I could dye them with tea maybe I could dye them with other staining foods....like beets. Which coincidentally are delicious to eat when chilled and pickled. And even better when mixed with spinach and peas and blue cheese and ... View the Post
A Sewing Lesson
A couple of weeks ago, on a Saturday, everyone had a project to do. One of us had legos to build, one of us had some sewing to do, one of us had toys to eat and chuck out of a toybox, one of us had a lawn to mow.....and one of us had absolutely nothing to do. So, my project got put on hold and the afternoon became a little girl's project. And for our first sewing lesson, we made a skirt for Rebecca. I ran the sewing machine pedal...but she did the rest, including the rotary cutter (which made ... View the Post
Flutter Sleeve Tutorial
Thanks everyone for your votes. It was a fun outfit to make....and it made me find an awesome discovery. You can turn a dress pattern around and make a coat out of it! Ok...here is the thing for the dress. You already have the tutorial! I made this dress from "The School Girl Jumper" that we made a couple of weeks ago. I did add some modifications which I will tell you about. Dress Modifications: 1. Make the bodice neckline higher. I did do the darts and fitted it several times ... View the Post
Project Run and Play is here….
Nevermind the fact that Liz had her baby this week and things have been a bit crazy getting things done---we are glad it is finally here!!! The first theme of Project Run & Play this round is Back to School. And since you know Liz and I pretty well, we just had to put a vintage spin on the theme. So, we give you.... Liz made Simon's darling outfit of a white poplin shirt, his tie and knickers. And I made Hannie's "modern Jane" twirly dress and matching polka-dotted jacket with a peter pan ... View the Post
A Ruffled Scarf Tutorial
Today I have for you a fifteen minute scarf that you will love. And I PROMISE you...it really will take 15 minutes. Stephen and I were out to dinner a couple of weeks ago, and browsed through a cute boutique next to the restaurant. And while I was ohhing and ahhing over the super-cute-but-ridiculously-expensive-clothes I saw the cutest muslin cotton scarf....that cost $48 dollars. So, voila. Here is the EXACT. SAME. SCARF. for $2.78. (It really is exactly). I really should have saved ... View the Post
