The first look is one of two dresses that I put into the collection. This particular one is Hannie's favorite. It is an A-line dress make out of winter white gabardine that is fully lined. The front lace is from a vintage table runner that I have had in my stash awhile, waiting for the right dress and it finally found a home.I drafted the pattern for the dress but I do have an alternative in paper pattern form if you are looking for a similar look. You will need to make the sides a bit more ... View the Post
Fall/Winter Lookbook
As you all know by now, I am always so inspired by classic childrenswear from the 1950's and 1960's. So, I tried to take the looks and feels of classic children's shapes and silhouettes from those decades and then make them modern. (I have some fun neon accessories-not shown-that a certain 7-year-old loves...so those got put in the looks too.)And I hope I succeeded...In the week (or so) ahead I am hoping to show you my original "looks" and then add some creative outfits that are mix-n-match.I ... A game of Clue.
I shared this dress a couple of weeks ago over at Louise's "Sew Ready to Play" Game series....where we were asked to sew something based on our favorite game.***********************************************************************One of my favorite games growing up was the game CLUE. It was just so thrilling to move around the game board, going into mansion rooms and then taking those tiny weapons (those were so cool) to make "who dunnit" predictions until one person got to open that mystery ... Tab-Top Curtain Tutorial
(Do you like how I had yet to trim the threads in this picture?)I got this itch to make new curtains for my sewing space a while ago. But, the fabric I wanted was $20 a yard, which I wasn't willing to spend. Fast forward to last week, went I saw at Joann's that it was 50 % off and I decided it was time to get going and make the curtains. I bought 6 yards of fabric which was perfect for 2 curtains (my curtain rods are pretty high) and they touch the floor perfectly.I had previously decided ... View the Post

We are two girls who love to going through life sewing, thrifting, discovering the art of homemaking and blogging about all of those adventures. When Maryanne and Caroline talked about this series, it took me a while to come up with what really my sewing best friend was.....a tool (I don't use a lot of fancy sewing tools), a person, a book? ... A Back to School Peasant Dress.
It is still hot as blazes here....but we needed a new and quick back to school dress. So a 30 minute peasant dress and some Old Navy leggings did the job perfectly. I cut the dress a bit longer, shirred 4 or 5 rows to make it drop-waisted and added a ribbon on top and we were done!P.S. Liz and I are still recovering from our craft market-experience which went so well. We promise to tell you all about it soon.A huge thank you to all of you who came and introduced yourselves..... we get a ... View the Post
