It is our Wednesday at Riley Blake Designs and today we are showing you how to make this easy three-tiered skirt. I have been seeing these types of skirts showing up in lots of high-end children's clothing lines and for lots of money. They were actually some of the first skirts that I learned how to make and have been a favorite ever since. And, you can make your own, in any length and any size! Head over to Riley Blake to see the full tutorial... ~Elizabeth ... View the Post
$5 Friday: Pleated Shoulder Seams
What happens when Grace is cooped up in the house all day with her sick older brother and a grumpy baby sister---one of whom is watching her tv and the other is playing with all of her toys---and none of them are in a mood to share? She stomps around the house and declares that "today is the worst day ever!" Which is exactly what she did T minus 10 seconds before this picture was taken. Poor Grace...she is used to her daily routine and yesterday was not routine AT ALL but I promised her that ... View the Post
A Polka-Dotted Bubble Dress.
For the Stripes and Polka-dot Sew Along this week, I decided to mix two of my favorite patterns---A Happy Tunic and the Bubble Skirt into a cheery outfit for winter. (We need cheer with the blehh weather and freezing temps we have been having.) We paired our polka-dotted creation with some striped leggings in aqua for the quick photo shoot....but I think we need some bigger stripes on the bottom so some new leggings might be in order too. I need to go and see what wide-striped-fabric I ... View the Post
This Post Has Been Brought to You by the Letter “O”
Today's post is about organic fabric, oatmeal, and orange. (Orange food that is.) Then I was able to peruse their website of wonderful organic and naturally dyed fabrics. It took me more than a week and far more than one visit to their site before I ... View the Post
What I have been up to….
I am still trying to work hard on Hannah's room, well, that and nursing sick kids which is taking a lot of energy at the moment. The painting is done. The touch-ups are done. The fabric came in and I wish I could just get it all done in three days flat, but all my energy is being spent with blankets, drinks, ibuprofen and some cuddle time with each one. Which is exactly where it needs to be. So, the room (that is still sitting in crazy shambles) can wait. I did get a few ... View the Post
The Party Dress Remix.
One thing that Liz and I were sad about last fall is that we didn't get the opportunity to sew-along with Project Run and Play. We were both knee-deep in our Fall Look Books and it just didn't happen. But we are going to sew along this season!!! We have missed the challenge of sewing with a theme. I am up this week with a simple remix of The Cottage Home's Party Dress along with everyone else. You need to see all the entries both in the sew-along and the 8 designer's that have been posted ...
