How is summer break going for you? The first week at our house was filled with sickies but I have two fingers crossed that we are out of the worst of it and on to summer break! (And guess who was the lucky member of the family to get it twice.....um...yeah....me.) I actually made this dress a couple of weeks ago but am finally now posting about it. It is a simple vintage-esque dress with a full gathered skirt and cap sleeves. I pulled the pattern of a body draft I had done a month or ... View the Post
A Cross-stitched Shirt
I really meant for this shirt to be in the Spring Look Book, but alas it didn't get there. But maybe I should just be glad it got finished (and not in the projects of doom pile) and hopefully it will look just as cute with shorts, which reminds me....I have got to make this girl some shorts. Both liZ and I are pretty much in LOVE with anything cross-stitched right now (you may or may not see another similar project tomorrow) but the top was a fun sew. And I like fun sews lately.... I made ... View the Post
Spring Lookbook: Peplum Top
I have two more looks to show you this week and then a big surprise coming up later on this week that liZ and I have been working on for awhile. (You are not going to miss it---it really is that good.) Today's look was 110 percent inspired copied from Jill's Peplum Shirt that she made for the ugly pattern challenge. Hers was fantastic and I couldn't help myself from sewing one up. I used the pattern that I gave you HERE; lengthened the bodice, shortened the sleeves and added a circle peplum ... View the Post
Spring Lookbook: Raspberry Sorbet
........She wore a Raspberry beret sorbet.....(now you are going to be singing that song all day too.) Good ole' 80's Prince.Because I always have to include a vintage pattern into my look-books, this dress is the vintage-goodness for this Spring. It is made from this pattern and was not changed a bit (so unlike me at times).I fell in love with the asymmetrical bodice the minute I saw the pattern and have been saving it until it would fit. I can see a lot more of these dresses in the ... View the Post
Works in Progress.
While busily finishing up Hannie's Spring look book (which I just have button holes to do on one more item!) I have been slowly working on some other projects. I actually found this quilt top that I started over 2 years ago (it's probably way closer to 3 years ago) that I never finished. It's funny because the fabric would not be my first choice today....but I remember when I bought it I was enthralled with the words written on it. (It was when fabric was just coming out with ... Helpful Hints from a Mid-Century Sewing Club.
This last summer I was gifted a package with a few sewing items, some fabric and a small envelope full of sewing patterns and articles from one of my mom's neighbors. SCORE!!! (I love gifts like that.) And as I was going through some sewing supplies I found the package and sat down to read some of the article. One of them was a paper from a Women's Sewing Club (it sounds so enticing....I want to join!) that was a page full of sewing hints and techniques. I wish there were more, but I will ... View the Post
