Ok...maybe it's a 15 or 20 minute pillowcase if you count the time it takes to cut it out. But I swear it's crazy easy and in honor of the first annual National Serger Month I used a serger to make it. (I actually don't have a serger of my own but I borrowed my moms for this project and it was AWESOME!!! Now I need to start saving up for one of my own!) ***NOTE***Since publishing this post I now have a baby lock Evolution serger of my own...it is AMAZING...and I have used it to put together ... A Pintucked Zipper Pouch.
I recently needed a thank-you gift for someone that was especially kind to me, so I decided that something handmade one was in order. I decided on a zipper pouch, but wanted to add a few special details to it--and found that pintucks were just the thing I was looking for. I didn't do a full tutorial but I did run across a "cheat sheet" that I used when I taught a class on making zipper pouches last fall. (The dimensions of this particular bag are a bit bigger---I did 9" by 11" inch ... View the Post
Under the Kitchen Countertop Magnet Board
People have asked what my husband does while I'm sewing. Well, this should answer that question. The sweatshirt was originally a Boy's Large but I wanted to make it something for Hannie, so I chopped some of the width out of it, made the sleeves puffed sleeves and added a cute Peter Pan collar to it. One thing you have to know is that this sweatshirt is so much cuter in real life.....sorry, the picture was taken on ... View the Post

A Polka-Dotted Bubble Dress.
For the Stripes and Polka-dot Sew Along this week, I decided to mix two of my favorite patterns---A Happy Tunic and the Bubble Skirt into a cheery outfit for winter. (We need cheer with the blehh weather and freezing temps we have been having.) We paired our polka-dotted creation with some striped leggings in aqua for the quick photo shoot....but I think we need some bigger stripes on the bottom so some new leggings might be in order too. I need to go and see what wide-striped-fabric I ... View the Post
