I shared this post awhile back when Melissa was having her Polka-dot series, but today I am bringing it home.... The sewing studio winner is being announced at the end of the post (how is that for mean?) One thing we love at Simple Simon is Vintage Patterns! We can't get enough of them. So I knew that the combination of a vintage pattern and polka-dots would be just the thing. I had fun going through my vintage stash to find one that suited the polka-dot perfectly and when I came across ... View the Post
Spring Lookbook: Peplum Top
I have two more looks to show you this week and then a big surprise coming up later on this week that liZ and I have been working on for awhile. (You are not going to miss it---it really is that good.) Today's look was 110 percent inspired copied from Jill's Peplum Shirt that she made for the ugly pattern challenge. Hers was fantastic and I couldn't help myself from sewing one up. I used the pattern that I gave you HERE; lengthened the bodice, shortened the sleeves and added a circle peplum ... View the Post
Spring Lookbook: Raspberry Sorbet
........She wore a Raspberry beret sorbet.....(now you are going to be singing that song all day too.) Good ole' 80's Prince.Because I always have to include a vintage pattern into my look-books, this dress is the vintage-goodness for this Spring. It is made from this pattern and was not changed a bit (so unlike me at times).I fell in love with the asymmetrical bodice the minute I saw the pattern and have been saving it until it would fit. I can see a lot more of these dresses in the ... View the Post
Sewing Secrets: Pattern Cutting
One sewing secret (although I don't think it is really that secret) that I like to do is to cut patterns out all at once. I usually spend 1-2 hours going to town pinning and cutting out every pattern that is in my ... View the Post
You Can’t Judge a Pattern By Its Cover: Jill from Homemade by Jill

(I am all about stealing her last party idea for Grace's birthday this summer---I just made my husband read her post about it.) Today we are happy to have Jill joining us from homemade by jill. Here is a photo of the pattern we sent her: And here is what she made with it:(Like I said beautiful, talented, and creative.)Here's what Jill said about her pattern....It was difficult to look past all of the ... Ugly Pattern #1—A Tip Toe Through The Tulips
Ok, so when Elizabeth and I were planning out our ugly pattern party I scheduled myself to go first because I didn't think that I could wait any longer to share my very favorite "ugly" pattern.I bought it for a quarter (along with some other lovelies) in a strangers basement where Elizabeth and I ended up one evening. (Long story.) Anyways, when I saw this pattern I totally had to buy it. That was a few years ago and may have actually been what sparked the idea for this series because we've ... View the Post
