Even though it doesn't look like it, I have been doing some garment sewing recently. And you will probably see more of these things in the future because it sometimes takes awhile behind the scenes to get them up and ready for you. (Especially this time of year...) So, I am giving you a couple of sneak peeks and one finished garment. (Yay for the finished one!) First up is a sneak peek of Hannie's Christmas dress.... I am in love with brocade this season (you are going to see ... View the Post
The Unintentional Graphic Print Dress & Another Reason Why I Don’t Post Photos of Myself (Burda Pearl Dress)
Here's the story. I made this dress awhile ago. It's Burda's Pearl Dress pattern. It was the first Burda pattern I'd ever sewn and I it made for practice before I put together my Shuffle Dress. Fortunately it worked out...and I can wear it. So I will. And because of the crazy print on the fabric it will work to be linked up to the Graphic Print challenge sew along that we have going on over at Project Sewn. So I will do that to. The only problem is this: this: and of course, ... View the Post
Everyday I’m Shufflin: My first Burda Dress and the Shuffle Fabric Bundle Winner
Until this pattern I've never sewn anything for myself that wasn't from a vintage pattern or self drafted.... ...and I wasn't sure how it would go. For the Fabric Fest fashion show I really wanted to make one of my dresses from Riley Blake's Shuffle fabric. (It's one of my very favorite fabrics right now.) So I needed to find a dress that would showcase the fabric with a simple design. Then one night I was browsing through Burda's dress patterns and I came across this: Burda Pearl Dress ... $5 Friday: Wide Legged Pants from Pajama Pants (A How To)
Happy $5 Friday! I feel like I haven't done a real $5 Friday post for what seems like forever so I'm excited to have something to share. (Actually I made these pants in the middle of the summer and just never posted them...but since #1. I like them and #2. It makes more sense to post them now with colder weather coming instead of when the temperature is reaching triple digits...today is the day.) Here's what my thought process was...I live in pajama pants (yes, I'm one of those girls) ... View the Post
The Vintage Sundress Pattern
Today we are over at We All Sew sharing our Vintage Sundress Pattern that I have been working on behind the scenes for awhile now, and I am very excited to be sharing it with all of you today. I feel like this dress is kind of a momentous occasion around here (even though it's really not--I am totally being dramatic) but is the first time that I patterned-drafted completely from scratch for more than one size. I think I tested it about 8 or 10 times and although I am still nervous ... View the Post
A Pink Swing Dress
(Sorry for the pictures being so light on this dress....we were working on a time crunch and full sunlight and some seriously, crazy wind. And these were the best we got.) I have a girl who is getting tall and all of the handmade dresses I have made are too short. So, last week I cut out a couple dresses and I sewed this light pink swing dress up yesterday. I used the pattern below but added 1.5 inches to the hem (although I should have done more, but she wasn't home at the time---so I ... View the Post
