You will be reading this in the morning....or at least in the daylight...but I am writing this at night. It's dark and everyone at my house is in bed and asleep. And me, I'm so tired. It's been a long few weeks around here. I won't bore you with the details of funerals, home remodel disasters, or my dogs anxiety issues but I will say that I really am tired. To the core. So tonight as I sit here thinking about Halloween and the upcoming costume making marathon that will begin tomorrow ... View the Post
Annie Costume (Orphan Style)…and a Secret…
For over a year now Baby Ruth (my 3 year old) has been obsessed with the movie Annie. The original 1981 Carol Burnett, Albert Finney, Tim Curry version that I grew up watching. She would watch it all day every day if we would let her. So for Halloween last year there was absolutely no question about who she would be. It was a given. ... View the Post
The Nightmare Before Christmas Sally Inspired Dress
So, yes I realize it is December 3rd and that I am writing about Grace's Halloween costume. I am doing it for two reasons. #1. I never shared it at Halloween time and #2. Because Grace thinks it is also going to be her Christmas dress. ("But Mom it's The Nightmare Before CHRISTMAS...BEFORE CHRISTMAS....see it's for Halloween and Christmas!) This dress was a lot of fun to make. I cut out the simple pattern pieces and drew on the front panel with a sharpie. Then I turned Grace loose with ... View the Post
Disney’s Jane Costume
This year Halloween is filled with lots of firsts and lasts at our house. Isaac is 4 and so terribly excited for his "first real Halloween class party" and the oldest so graciously informed me that he didn't want a costume this year. My kids are at such different stages of life......but I am bound and determined to enjoy this Halloween with each of those different kids at each of their stages. It's all so different for each of them. The youngest can't wait to march in his own Halloween ... View the Post
Halloween Costume Collars (for lots of different costumes!)
This last Spring, we did a project for Jo-Ann Fabric and Craft Stores for their Fall Lookbook. For it, they gave us four themes and we brainstormed and sewed four projects up that fit those themes, which we love! (We really do still love sewing for themes ;) For the Halloween Chic theme, we decided on some old-school Halloween Costume Collars that could be made with simple collar pattern....so the lion, the clown and the ballerina costumes were born! And we really do love them....they were ... View the Post
Anna Frozen-Inspired Costume (that you can make in an hour!)
When liz showed our capes last week, there was one more that we were saving to share this week---the Audrey Cape made into Anna's Cape from the Disney Movie Frozen. I am sure we are not alone in our two houses with the Frozen phenomenon....and in case you are needing an Anna Frozen-Inspired Costume this year for Halloween or even a birthday party....we've got you covered. And you can make the whole thing in less than an hour ;) My kind of dress up or costume. ... View the Post
