A few weeks ago, liZ and I had the opportunity to attend Fabric Fest, a sewing conference that was put on by Riley Blake Designs in Las Vegas. It was a wonderful mid-week conference of sewing, food, and new friends and we really had the best time. We met people from all over the world (hello new Aussie friends!) and we laughed more than we have laughed in a long time. As part of Fabric Fest we taught a pattern-drafting class for drafting a children's bodice and then did a panel discussion ... View the Post

Did you know that September is National Sewing Month?I am sure you did and the best part is that Coats and Clark wants to help you celebrate your National Sewing Month projects, and you have 5 chances to win!Recently I was on the prowl for some neon pink thread for the Vintagely Modern Neon Skirt I made and could NOT find anything to match in my stash. Climb Every Mountain (or aquaclimb as it be)…
photo sourceWhile we were home this summer, we have enjoyed our community pool. It is great for kids--there are two water slides (one slow, one fast), diving boards, a baby pool and plenty of space for millions of kids to spread out. It also has two of these aqua climbing-walls near the deep end. Last year, try as she might, Hannie couldn't quite conquer it. She was only 6 and her arms and legs were not quite strong enough to get herself all the way to the tippy top. It’s all she's talked about ... View the Post
If you wanna be a human…..

She had plans of her own.Very specific plans: A crazy polyester rust ... View the Post
I Haven’t Even Had A Capri Sun!
Look at that face.Man, I love this kid.I cannot believe that she is old enough to go to kindergarten this year...and I cannot believe that summer is already over. I had such big plans for this summer. Actually, they weren't big plans--they were plans to spend long days in the backyard running through sprinklers, playing in the mud and getting sun burned. But for some reason our plans were derailed quite a bit. How it happened I'll never know but we spent most of the summer with at least one ... View the Post
The Many Adventures of…….
This last spring, we took a Disney trip. My husband had a conference there so we decided to take the opportunity to tag along. We explored Epcot and all its food (I want to go back sans kids and explore more food), some of us went on the Tower of Terror (not me---total wimp here) and we had a great time. But for most of the trip I was alone with the kids, and because I have different ages of children who are at different stages of life.....finding something everyone wanted to do was sometimes ...
