I am sewing up a few summer things and this sundress is one of the favorite things that I have ever made. I drafted the free pattern last year and it goes from a girls size 3 to a girls size 8. I sewed up the size 6 last year for Hannie and I sewed up the size 8 this year. It is a bit big but I would rather go with a bit big so she can wear it all summer long. ... View the Post
4 Patch Rag Bag Tutorial
Hello! Today we have a 4 Patch Rag Bag Tutorial for you. We shared it a month or two ago over at Riley Blake Designs and today we are bringing it back home to Simple Simon! Hello! Summer Sewing
I have a girlie who has outgrown much of her summer wardrobe. We actually went shopping a few weeks ago to find some staples, as in shorts and a few shirts, but came home mostly empty-handed....because either the waists fit and they were too shorty-mc-shorty or the length fit but she cant keep them up. Soooo....I guess that means I need to get busy and sew up a few things for summer. This dress I actually sewed up a couple of months ago, and found again when unpacking summer things. So, we ... Color Blocked Skirt Tutorial (Super EASY!)
Today we have an EASY color blocked skirt tutorial for you! Actually we've shared this tutorial with you once before but back then we called it the "Melon Blocked Skirt". Remember this? Since then I don't know how many of these exact same skirts I've made. I loved them then and I love them now. The original skirt was loved to pieces and no longer fits either of my girls. But Grace wears this neon and white one ALL THE TIME. As you can see by the photographs the skirt has seen some ... View the Post
Vintage Pattern + Organic Cotton Sateen = A Winning Combo
I have had this vintage 1976 McCall's pattern for years now. It keeps floating around between my to be cut pile and my stash but earlier this week the pattern met the fabric and it was true love! The fabric I used was organic navy cotton sateen from Organic Cotton Plus. I've used their fabrics before and I love them...they are always so soft and wonderful to work with and this cotton sateen was no exception...it is like butter! Seriously, butter. Which is why I ended up making the long ... View the Post
Vintage Ruth
A few months ago my mom found this sweet dress in an antique shop and it was just Ruth's size. The dress was 100% handmade and the craftsmanship is phenomenal! Look at all of those pin tucks. I know that in today's world cutting corners, just getting it out there, speed, and disposable everything is the norm...but when I see work like this I think we are missing out...missing out on something important. The time, the love, the skill that was used to create this dress is phenomenal and ... View the Post
