First of all, please don't laugh at my picture. liZ and I decided a long time ago that we didn't want pictures of ourselves on the blog---mostly because we are hermits and don't really like even the thought of taking pictures of ourselves. Well, after a while here of heads cut off and other photo techniques, we are starting to venture out and put up a few pictures of ourselves. Awkward, at best, but it's up there....(AHHHH!) ... A free sundress pattern. In Orange.
I am sewing up a few summer things and this sundress is one of the favorite things that I have ever made. I drafted the free pattern last year and it goes from a girls size 3 to a girls size 8. I sewed up the size 6 last year for Hannie and I sewed up the size 8 this year. It is a bit big but I would rather go with a bit big so she can wear it all summer long. ... View the Post
Summer Sewing
I have a girlie who has outgrown much of her summer wardrobe. We actually went shopping a few weeks ago to find some staples, as in shorts and a few shirts, but came home mostly empty-handed....because either the waists fit and they were too shorty-mc-shorty or the length fit but she cant keep them up. Soooo....I guess that means I need to get busy and sew up a few things for summer. This dress I actually sewed up a couple of months ago, and found again when unpacking summer things. So, we ... A Simple Stretch Denim Dress
Today I get to share a simple stretch denim dress. I got to make it as a part of the Shaffer Sister's "sew-a-bration of Womanhood" series. It's a month long series in May that encourages women to take the time to sew for themselves. (You should head over there and check it out....so many great ladies and lovely projects.) The project I chose to make for myself is actually the exact same pattern I sewed for myself for the Ugly Duckly Pattern Challenge we held last month. But this ... View the Post
Vintage Ruth
A few months ago my mom found this sweet dress in an antique shop and it was just Ruth's size. The dress was 100% handmade and the craftsmanship is phenomenal! Look at all of those pin tucks. I know that in today's world cutting corners, just getting it out there, speed, and disposable everything is the norm...but when I see work like this I think we are missing out...missing out on something important. The time, the love, the skill that was used to create this dress is phenomenal and ... View the Post
The Starboard Dress
Today we are celebrating Spring with Jo-Ann National Craft Month! The idea was to choose a Spring trend and then make something inspired by that trend--radiant orchid, nautical, geometric, and floral. I decide on the nautical trend mostly because I love the colors that are all-things nautical. Here was my inspiration photo.... photo credit: Jo-Ann Here is my take on Nautical this Spring.... The Starboard skirt updated to a cute Spring Dress! For the bodice I used the Basic Bodice pattern ... View the Post
