So I've never used a serger before. Ever. And neither had my mom, until last week when she pulled hers out and whipped up this dress for Grace. She surged the entire outfit, perfectly in one try while I ate cinnamon hearts, sipped a soda, and watched helplessly. The dress is really cute, although you can't see most of it (it was freezing the day I took her picture so her cardigan is covering the cute gathered waist and sleeveless bodice) and even though she selected her own accessories (plastic ... $ 5 Friday: Another 70’s Dress.
I gave the preview a couple of days ago and now it's finished. We had a FREEZING photo shoot, one cute and spunky girl, some balloons that were blowing everywhere.... and here are the results..... I used 1 yard of fabric from Hobby Lobby which was $4.76 and some of the scraps of white Kona cotton for the Peter Pan collar and the sleeve bands. I also took out the zipper in the back (why are zippers so expensive?) and used a trick that I learned a while back....I will share it next ... View the Post
So I Like Jumpers…
OK, so here's another jumper I made for Gracie. What can I say? I just like jumpers.(I've made more than one in the past and I'll bet I make more than one more in the future.)But, I'd like to point out that this jumper is in fact different from the others...this one is void of any stripes, flowers, eyelet, or bows and is sewn from some made-for-a-man's-suit tweed fabric that I picked up on sale instead of my usual cotton fare.So I am branching out...sort of... ... Partially Completed Projects

Which will include finishing this dress---all that is left is the pinafore. (Plus a pair of knee highs, and some serious time spent with the hair brush...poor girl...)Wish me luck. ... View the Post
A white dress
I have been working on Hannie's white dress for this weekend....and having been tearing up thinking about how fast this little white dress is going to be a bridal dress. And I really just want time to stop so I can hold my baby and kids for a little while longer. They grow up so fast. Sniff. Sniff. ... View the Post
A New Spring Jumper…for the amost springtime.
Ok...So I'm wishful thinking. I wish it was springtime right now. Seriously. Right this second.I know I live in Utah and have been raised here and should know that it will snow and be drab until, oh, say about May...but a girl can dream can't she?And in my alternate dream reality that tells me that spring will be here soon I made Grace a little Springtime jumper. She even tried it out today during a brief few minutes of sunshine. Sure it will be cuter in a few months with sandals and flipflops ... View the Post
