A couple of weeks ago while shopping I came across a darling little jumper for a little girl at H&M. I almost bought it (it was around $10 or so) but then when taking a second look at it realized it was just an updated version of a pillowcase dress. So, I came home and made one. In 30 minutes. My kind of quick, naptime sewing project.I did take a few pictures along the way to make a quick tutorial. Here's how I did it....I was making a TALL size 6/7 and since I want her to be able to wear it ... A Ruffled Collar Tutorial
In case you missed this a couple of weeks ago at see kate sew's RUFFLES 2012....One thing that we love over at Simple Simon and Co is taking simple, vintage, classic children's clothing and adding a touch of a modern to them. And luckily, today's project is no exception. It's a simple A-line vintage jumper pattern, but made a bit more modern with the addition of a smart, little ruffled collar. For the pattern, I used this little vintage beauty in my stash.....but there are A-line jumper ... Finish what you started week…a recap.
I did finish quite a few things last week. This little dress had been sitting on the dress form....for weeks. All she needed was buttons and a hem (can you tell they are not my favorite steps?) to be completed. She was only about a week late as a birthday present for our little neighbor girl, but she was finally given to her rightful owner. A little 60's sundress made with vintage fabric for the skirt....for me, sewing just does not get any better.Other projects finished--a pair of chambray ... View the Post
Thrifted Thursday…With Blue Satin Sashes
Yesterday Liz shared her darling Easter Dress (I am in serious love), and I am sharing Hannie's today (which is kind of old news around these parts---I went with simple). Her dress is made from a cotton-linen blend of fabric that was thrifted (a whole roll of 10 yards of lovely fabric for $5----I am thinking it was originally meant for drapery lining). The dress is made from The Vintage Holiday Dress Tutorial. I forgot to put her crinoline under it for the picture---so you'll have to picture it ... View the Post
Gracie’s Chocolate Chicken Easter Dress
So this is Gracie's Easter dress. In my mind it seemed like a normal choice for Easter....the baby chick yellow with the white and the chocolate bunny brown...but seeing everyone else's pink and pastel dresses I understand that I'm crazy...again. Oh well. I like it. Sure it's a little vintage cigarette girlish but I like it. Plus it was kind of an exciting project for me to work on. It is the first outfit I've completed where I drafted the pattern only from measurements---no tracing a ... View the Post
The Unintended Girl Scout Cookie Dress
Early last spring I bought this green fabric while on vacation and as soon as I came home I cut out this dress. But then I forgot all about it until this week when I was going through my unfinished project bin. Luckily the pattern I used (a 1965 Simplicity Pattern #5948) was a size 3 and will still work for Grace this spring. However when I started sewing it up I decided to change a few things---like the sleeves, tie, bias tape, etc.I sewed it up in a hurry during my girls nap time and when ... View the Post
