A super easy and inexpensive way to add interest to any skirt or dress is to add trim. When I buy trim for Gracie's skirts I always buy 1 and 1/2 yards. (This gives me enough to put around a full skirt and have a little left over just in case :) This particular trim I bought at Jo-Ann's and after using a coupon it cost right around $2. Not too bad. And I loooooove it. But if you don't love the southwestern flavor as mush as I do there are laces, and ribbons, and sequence and a million ... View the Post
The Party Dress Remix.
One thing that Liz and I were sad about last fall is that we didn't get the opportunity to sew-along with Project Run and Play. We were both knee-deep in our Fall Look Books and it just didn't happen. But we are going to sew along this season!!! We have missed the challenge of sewing with a theme. I am up this week with a simple remix of The Cottage Home's Party Dress along with everyone else. You need to see all the entries both in the sew-along and the 8 designer's that have been posted ... $5 Friday: Wierd Wal-Mart Knit—Another Buffalo Gals Look that Didn’t Make the Cut
Back in November when I showed Gracie's Buffalo Gals Lookbook I didn't show all the other pieces that I had made that I didn't feel like "fit" with the collection. This is one of them. It wasn't that I didn't like the leggings or that I accidentally made them 10 sizes to small. I just didn't like how they looked with the other items I had made. So Grace got to wear them and didn't even have to get her picture taken in them...until the other day when we were all inside for the afternoon ... View the Post

$5 Friday—Rug Market Bag Tutorial
Over 2 years ago I made my first rug bag.. I was at the dollar store wandering around and I saw a pile of these rugs...and I liked them...and I wanted to do something with them besides throwing them on my floor. So I made this bag... ...and then another... ...and another... ...and even all this time later I still can't stop. (And I can't stop wearing those ugly pants either...my husband keeps trying to slip them into the donation pile but it's not happening!) Anyways, over the summer I made ... View the Post
$5 Friday: Fancy Little Lady Skirts with DIY Iron On Patches
So as I mentioned a little while ago I've been into making my own iron on patches. I don't have any of those nifty machines that you just send an image over to and it cuts out some stuff. (In all honesty I don't even know how they work and haven't ever seen one.) I've just been making them the old fashioned way...draw a picture, trace it onto fabric, iron Heat-and-Bond onto the fabric, peel, stick, iron onto the desired location, and sew around the edges. Done. And I love them so much ... View the Post
