It's that time of year...the holidays...when everyone is letting others know how much they love and are thankful for them. But saying thank you isn't easy for everyone....especially if you are one that has a hard time accepting help in the first place. So today I've put together two short lists with some simple ideas on how to say thank you without actually having to say "thank you". The first list has ideas for what to say and the second list has some ideas on things to do...which means you ... View the Post
The Art of Homemaking: Make Two
I love this time of year when everyone is thinking about others...especially what they can give to others... But sometimes I think we make giving too hard. Or over think it too much. Or believe it has to be a grand gesture...or cost a lot...or be extravagant...or only be given to those in desperate need or to close friends or family... And it just doesn't have to be that way. It can be as easy as just making two. For instance: If you are making a batch of cookies...double it. Then take the ... View the Post
A Thank You Giveaway From Us To You
I'm not sure we say it often enough but we are so very thankful for all of you. We love your emails, comments and Facebook likes. So many of you ladies we have never "met" but we feel like you are a part of our inner circle of friends. Elizabeth and I talk about so many of you so often....as if you all lived in our neighborhood....and it confuses our husbands (they never know who is "real" and who is an "internet" friend...although to us it's all the same). We truly appreciate you spending a ... View the Post
An Impractical Autumn Dress For Ruth

It's perfectly impractical in every way for our autumn temperatures. (And it's totally Cindy Brady.) But it is so perfect for those chubby legs and arms that I couldn't resist! The dress is from a 1960's Simplicity pattern and made with Penny Rose fabrics. And even though I'm in love...I will start sewing ... View the Post
November Holidays 2014
Well, well, well....we are finally here...to the most important holiday month of the year. The month when we can all gather together not only to eat but also to celebrate the most hallowed of all holidays...the one and only....National Nachos Day!!! Ok, so really in my world everyday is National Nachos Day but still on the 6th I will be celebrating...and there will be nachos. Tasty, delicious, cheesy, jalepenoed nachos. And in case National Nachos Day isn't awesome enough for you you can ... View the Post
Autumn
"I cannot endure to waste anything so precious as autumnal sunshine by staying in the house." -Nathanial Hawthorne Yesterday I should have finished up the girls costumes, vacuumed the kids bedrooms, folded the laundry, and photographed the dress for today's post. Instead my husband and I took the kids to a local farm... ...where we stayed until we were all frozen, smelled like goats, and the sun had long gone down. It was a glorious evening and I don't regret my decision. Tonight we will be ... View the Post
