Several years ago I made this Valentine Quilt that is also known as the "I love you because...." quilt in our house. I shared the story of how this quilt came to be HERE and how we use it each year. It travels from room to room and is one way we try to show love around Valentine's Day every year. Some years we do better than others, but I want it to be a tradition that the kids remember--and more importantly know exactly how much they are loved! And this year I finally got around to ... Shine Bright Heart Quilt Block
I was browsing some cute Valentine Decorations at a local store and came across this darling geometric heart pillow and I thought it was so cute. And then it dawned on me--it is the Shine Bright Paper Piecing block with one of the triangles at the top turned into a background fabric! So, off I went to re-create this paper piecing block I love so much into a Valentine Quilt Block as well. Who knew it would be so versatile? I am apparently not all that smart ;) I used the new Blossom ... View the Post
What is Foundation Paper Piecing?
When I first started quilting, one of the things that really confused me (as in all new hobbies) were some of the terms, or even slang terms, that other quilters used for the techniques in quilting. And "fpp" was one of those terms that I couldn't figure out for a long time! I even googled it once and came up with a software program that I thought quilters were using to make quilt blocks---ha! But no, "fpp" is the slang term for foundation paper piecing--a quilting technique that really is ... View the Post
All My X’s Quilt
I finished this quilt last fall, but then realized I never posted it so you probably saw a few sneak peeks on instagram but never the full quilt. I used our Shine Bright Fabric line and the tutorial from Missouri Star Quilt Company called "All My X's" and I love the way the quilt came out. I used a 10" stacker instead of the 5" squares and just cut them down and it worked perfectly. So, if you have a stacker laying around it's a good way to put it to use! I did add a border to the ... Easy Chicken Pot Pie Soup
I know it doesn't look like much in the picture....but I am telling you this is one of the best soups I have ever had! The night we had it for dinner my husband (who is not a big soup eater) declared it one of his favorite meals. ... View the Post
Fudge Brownies Recipe
In our house we call these "Grandma Lova Brownies." This fudge brownie recipe is named after my maternal grandma who I will introduce you to in the next podcast ;) but they are the best fudge brownies out there! And I am not kidding. I have tried so many recipes, but I always came back to Grandma Lova's recipe....and now I don't even try any more...they are the REAL DEAL. I even introduced my host family when I was a foreign exchange student in France in college and I think we made them three ... View the Post
