Artisan Bread in a Dutch Oven Recipe
In a glass bowl mix:
- 3 cups of Bread Flour
- 1 teaspoon of instant yeast (I LOVE SAF brand yeast)
- 2 teaspoons of salt
- 1 1/2 cups of warm water with 1 Tablespoon of honey dissolved in it
Stir with a wooden spoon until dough is shaggy (all the flour is mixed in) but not super mixed. Add 1 teaspoon of water if dough is still super dry (drier climates sometimes need this). The dough should still be super sticky. Put plastic wrap over the glass bowl and place it on the counter for 4-6 hours.
After dough has doubled in size, take dough out of bowl and onto a floured counter. Shape it into a round loaf shape and place in a floured dough proofing bow. Cover with dishtowel or plastic wrap and let rise again fo 2-3 hours.
When ready to bake, preheat oven to 425 degrees with your dutch oven in the oven to heat up. While oven is pre-heating, carefully turn out bread dough on a piece of parchment paper and score the top to release steam, then place in heated dutch oven. Cook with the lid on for 25 mins. Remove lid and cook for 5 additional minutes until top is golden.
