We are doing a very simple Christmas around our home this year and I am actually pretty exciting about it. We started talking about doing this in early September and I think it has helped with so much less stress and anxiety surrounding the season. We discussed the option in a family meeting and everyone was on board so we decided to go with it!
We asked the kids to pick one larger gift that they wanted and to really think about something meaningful. To make it a gift they really want. For some it was an easier decision than others…and one will be a giant surprise because that is what that kiddo requested…but I can’t tell you the difference it has made in my life.
I have had everything gathered and wrapped since early November and I feel like I have had more time to focus on family memories instead of things. I am hoping no one is really disappointed Christmas morning but I feel like we have had more time to focus on people and not things, which I am hoping and praying make a huge impact in the future.
And one other perk of the month is that it has given me more time to sew and to serve! Both things that I love to do. We are also doing a small Christmas for another family and so I whipped up a few stockings for the kids in that family that my kids are going to fill with some favorite treats and snacks to enjoy over Christmas break.
I love using this pattern because they come together so quickly! I sewed both of these up in about 30 mins which is great. I love projects like that…because I feel so accomplished. It’s the perfect kind of December afternoon sewing session 😉
If you are looking to make some last minute stockings too…the pattern for Christmas Stockings can be found in our shop, HERE!
Happy sewing!
