Grandfather’s Lap Quilt Pattern
For years now we have had requests for our Grandfather’s Lap Quilt Tutorial to be turned into an actual PDF Pattern…and we finally did that!
So today we are excited to officially release our “Grandfather’s Lap Quilt” Pattern!
Finishing up at only 48” x 48” inches this quilt is large enough to cover a lap but small enough to be portable…as well as avoiding being heavy or cumbersome!
The quilt was designed especially for adults to use while resting on the couch, in their favorite chair, on the porch, or in their wheelchair.
The patchwork squares of the design are perfect for the quilter to use for incorporating favorite colors, prints, and textures that will bring joy and comfort to one the one using the quilt.
In the quilt pictured above I combined quilting cotton, flannel, and wool. But in others I have also incorporated velvet, satin, and chenille.
I like to add textures that are familiar and soothing to the one who will be using the lap quilt.
The quilt in this post I created for my own Grandpa…who I love tremendously.
He passed away a little while back…but I keep this quilt…and his green chair:
They make a great pair.
And much to my husband’s dismay I will never get rid of his old chair.
I love this little quilt pattern. And while it was designed for a specific use the pattern does include an optional border that brings the quilt to a finished size of 57” x 57” and would make for a fun “couch quilt” for anyone.
But to me it will always be a lap quilt….
…for generations that I love.
The PDF can be found HERE in our shop.
It is an easy sew and, no matter the fabric choice, I have yet to be disappointed in the results.
Happy Quilting!
