We have been making quilts around here for gifts…and this quilt is a special graduation quilt for my niece that my mom and I sewed back in May and June. She requested a blue quilt so we used fat quarters to stitch up an “Around the Block” quilt in all different shades of Riley Blake fabrics in blues.
Here are some of the fabrics used…and I love all the different shades together.
The Around the Block Quilt Pattern is made for beginners to advanced quilters and uses fat quarters so it makes it a cinch to sew up! A perfect pattern for making large quilts that will be cherished for years.
The backing was a cute soft sheet that matches both the lighter blues and the darker blues….and I think it turned out perfectly. Hopefully it will be a little taste of home when she heads off to college in a few weeks.
The Pattern is our “Around the Block” quilt pattern and can be found HERE in our shop. The only modification was taking off one row each way and then not putting the border around the outer edges to make the quilt size a bit smaller for a lap-sized quilt, but other than that it is the exact pattern. Finished quilt size is approx. 74”x 74” and this one is about 62″ by 62″ without those extra borders.
What have you been up to lately? Any quilting going on?
