A lot of times in quilting you can get intimidated by a new technique. But I am here today to tell you–DO NOT fear piecing hexagons! They are one of my favorite ways to piece a quick-sew quilt because the blocks are large and the quilts themselves come together very quickly when you start sewing the rows together. And this Pieced Hexagon Quilt Pattern is the perfect place to start!
I have made this quilt now loads of times—in all shapes and sizes and I love the way they come out. Here are a few examples of fun hexagon quilts from the past.
This one in shades of blues and mustard was one of the first ones I ever made. And it is still a family favorite for movie night. The large sizes hexies are so fun to show off both your large and small scale fabrics.
This black and white one made from “When Skies are Grey” fabrics. Isn’t it so fun with the added gold sparkle? Super modern looking for a quilt!
Fabric Requirements:
*¼ yard each of 6 different red, white and blue prints (18 prints total) OR enough scraps to make 60 4.5″ hexagons
*½ yard of fabric for quilt binding
*3 yards of backing fabric
