Bloom and Grow Fabric by Simple Simon and Company for Riley Blake Designs
Today we are excited to share our newest fabric line “Bloom and Grow” that is currently available in stores!
Growing up both Elizabeth and I read and reread “The Secret Garden” by Frances Hodgson Burnett. We were enamored with the tale of young Mary seeking “a bit of earth” to tend and in the process discovering not only a secret garden but also the joy and power that comes with the love of family and friends.
“And the secret garden bloomed and bloomed and every morning revealed new miracles.” Burnett, Frances Hodgson, 1849-1924. The Secret Garden. Boston, MA :D.R. Godine, 1987.
As we both grew up we began to discover and tend to our own secret gardens…marrying spouses, teaching school, raising children, and being actively involved in different communities. And as time progressed, seasons changed…first year teachers transformed, newly weds celebrated 20 year anniversaries, and babies grew into teenagers…and with these seasons we thought again of “The Secret Garden”.
“If you look at it the right way, you can see the whole world is a garden.” Burnett, Frances Hodgson, 1849-1924. The Secret Garden. Boston, MA :D.R. Godine, 1987.
Over and over again we have seen the power that comes from tending a “garden”. Whether the garden is full of flowers or full of children, family members or friends it needs loving, mindful care. And when such care is given to its tending miracles are “revealed”.
“Where you tend a rose my lad, a thistle cannot grow.” Burnett, Frances Hodgson, 1849-1924. The Secret Garden. Boston, MA :D.R. Godine, 1987.
This line is dedicated to the secret wonders and lessons we have discovered while tending to the unique gardens that we have been allowed to tend and for all the miracles we look forward to experiencing in the future.
As soon as we finally got our hands on this new line we went to work…I have several quilts off to the quilter right now sewn up in Bloom and Grow including this one that I took a quick snap shot of just before sending it off to be quilted:
Meanwhile, Elizabeth has been sewing up handy little creations like this project pouch:
It combines our fun new fabric along with vinyl so that you can see the project that pouch holds inside!
As our fabric has been out for several weeks now it has been fun to see different project created using our fabric popping up on the internet. It is always so wonderful to see what other people make using our fabrics.
